    Pros

The people you work with are usually pretty decent.

    Cons

The pay is terrible!!!! If you are promoted from within you get no more than a 3% raise every year, but someone that comes from outside of the company starts at a much higher salary than you. It's the most unfair pay structure I've ever heard of.

    Pros

Low cost health insurance, decent starting wage. Lots of work to keep busy

    Cons

Horrible management, HR is a joke, severe favoritism, no communication, I dread it most days

    Advice to Management

Hahahaha. It doesn't matter. They still do what they want regardless

    Pros

UPMC Health Plan has some really strong performers and these go to individuals are the key to making the organization succeed.

    Cons

No bonus, low salaries, and the room for upward advancement within the organization is limited.

    Advice to Management

Pay for performance and provide additional incentives for employees to want to stay with the organization.

    Pros

In my department, we are typically not micro-managed. We are depended on while having stable employment.

    Cons

Upper management does not communicate. There is also unfair compensation between departments. Most departments are severely overworked.

    Advice to Management

Talk about future changes and happenings with the department before it happens. Don't offer incentives/commission to some departments and not others. Listen to your workers when they state the volume of work and time spent to assess the need for additional assistance.

    Pros

    Computer software tools were excellent.

    Cons

Management was major inconsistencies weekly. Wasted money moving their projects weekly. In fact money was not an issue, they wasted it left and right.

    Advice to Management

Learn not to BULLY your staff and co-workers. P. S. You are all on the same team, act like it!

    Pros

Company felt stable Growing products made it interesting to work with and always something new Work atmosphere is nice, somewhat casual

    Cons

Difficult to move upwards. Felt like departments are in silos. Hard to gain any visibility into upper management. internal hiring is difficult and political.

    Advice to Management

Do more skip level meetings to give your employees more exposure to the inside of the company

    Pros

Flexible with time off, overtime was pretty easy to come by, decent pay for the actual job, and the shifts are good.

    Cons

Mangement is very disorganized, they will have one process to do something one day and something completely different the next but no one will make the new process clear. They also have favorites and if you're not one of them right off the bat you never will be. They don't pay attention to what anyone is doing, so some members of team end up doing much more work than others. They also tell you it's easy to move up if you start in entry level but it can take months to years to get to a new position.

    Pros

coworkers. upmc likes to hire great compassionate people on the front lines that are highly tolerant and immune to bs. good luck with the rest of the department and the company

    Cons

continuous forced overtime, if you take even five seconds over your alloted ten minutes of restroom or "break" time on your ten hour shift there are penalties ... even if you have a doctors note for a valid medical condition, politics in hiring, management undermines you in internal transfers because they can't keep anyone in the department, micromanagement upon micromanagement, petty unprofessional and unwarranted personal comments from management irrelevant to your job and performance, playing favorites, disconnected borderline harassing management. I would not recommend this job

    Advice to Management

    replace all management. simple
