Pros
UPS is a very structured and organized. They provide relevant training, and the supervisors give effective feedback. They also have a good benefits.
Cons
One downside of working at UPS is your medical benefits do not begin until 6 months after employment, and your dental benefits begin a year after employment.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice to the leadership at UPS is to continue to be professional, provide employees with honest feedback, and keep safety as the first priority.

I work in the HR Training Department. I have never worked with so many insecure, incompetent men in my life. This place is all about rank. Supervisors are not allowed to eat with Specialist or Admin. The cafeteria is like a high school lunch room. You literally see people eating with their clicks. They have a policy book which no one adheres to. Pay is HORRIBLE...you get to keep half of your bonus in cash and the other half goes into stock. Micro Managing to the max...the minimum work hour is 55 hours...and the pay is not competitive. SAD, SAD, SAD!!!
Advice to Senior Management
In Corporate Learning & Development...GROW UP!!! You are managing people in operations...you did not give birth to the people you are managing, you are not managing rejects...you are managing people with educations who competent in their field. I understand you typically promote from within...but understand WHEN you cannot find qualified candidates from within...RESPECT the skills and talents that come from outside the organziation. Your industry is not hard to learn...

The company is very cut throat. Be prepared to get screwed on every pay check. Almost all the equipment you use to move the packages is at least 30-40 years old and will break down alot. If there is another package handler that is not really qualified for the job then be ready to do that persons job as well. Its really easy to get injured on the job. The first 2 weeks your back and shoulders will be in pain almost non stop. Its an extremely stressful job !

Treat all employees better and give everyone more respect. Fix the payroll problems. Give better hours.

I like the feeling that working for this company can help open a lot of doors for me within, and outside the company. Ups Also has tons of benefits they offer such as health, dental, retirement, and even in some locations help out with education. My job now is not the easiest job, but I can do to help pay off in the future seeing that I am still very young.

Start treating management equally! Make 55+ perform or retire!

The health benefits are very nice when compared to other companies (especially part-time).
Included is health/dental/vision. Have had no problems with the provider of the insurance.
Somewhat flexible hours.
Opportunities for overtime during peak seasons primarily but offered somewhat regularly as well.
Once you obtain seniority, the pay gets better and better (especially for part-time work).
Have had very little issues with my school schedule/work schedule. Supervisors have worked with me on the conflicts.
Good workout and even get a short break during the shift if all things are going well.
Lots of different ways to pursue a different job type once you get your foot in the door.
Once you have time under your belt here, the vacation time/sick days/option days-week are pretty attractive. again, especially for part-time work.
Tuition assistance is available.

Although many opportunities exist to move around the company, it is a very slow and diluted process.
The flow of information and standard operating procedures is atrocious at times.
People in leadership positions need to be sent to a simple leadership course to help some of them learn how to properly lead a team and address issues.
Supervisors need to be educated much more than they are on standard operating procedures and filing of paperwork.
It is very difficult to switch shifts, which I found somewhat odd for part-time work. Luckily, I have been fortunate enough to have had little issues with my school/work schedule thus far.
Moving from the area you were hired to another area but doing the same job, still makes you lose your seniority. This seems very unfortunate for someone who wishes to stay with the company yet must relocate. The pay gets pretty good and it does not behoove you to move and lose your pay rate.
Management of personnel is a little bit sub-par. Again, supervisors seem to have a lack of education in proper personnel/time management skills.

People placed in leadership positions need to be educated in the proper way to lead. They should also be able to answer questions about issues or at the very least be able to promptly address the issue with the next level of leadership and receive the correct information.
There appears to be much misinformation floating around and it is a pain to have to double check everything that I am told just because I have heard various solutions in the past yet only one is the correct one according to UPS s.o.p.
Certain quirks like the loss of seniority when moving to another location is somewhat discouraging. At the very least a case-by-case basis should be in place to rectify that issue as to retain good, hard-working employees within the company throughout the country.
