I worked at UPS full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – The pay was ok but that was about it. I remember reading on Yahoo an article about how to know if your workplace was toxic and UPS headquarters matched every single point.
Cons – Its an individual effort, no teamwork at UPS headquarters. There are too many managers and they fight about everything to the point where no decision can ever be made about even the most minor detail. There is no identity in this building, you can literally walk from the parking garage to your desk and not have a clue what company's building you are in. The interior of the building looks like something from the 70's, lots of wood and gold trim with old worn out carpet. Everyone is in fear of their job constantly because it is made clear that everyone is replaceable. Many of the managers don't have a clue of what they are doing because most of them are promoted truck drivers. I would avoid this place at all cost unless you don't have any other options for employment. And whatever you do, don't contract here. I have watched them toss out too many contractors to count most of the time for no obvious reason. The company doesnt support its employees at all when it comes to equipment, most of the staff have old laptops running Windows XP and Office 2003. Even the technology department head is in his 60's and has no clue about modern computing advancements and should have been replaced a decade ago.
Advice to Senior Management – Its time to clear house. Toss all the old managers and get some new ideas in there or you will never stop losing market share to FEDEX.

I worked at UPS as a contractor for more than a year
Pros – The Food Court at Corporate office was great. All the people are really nice. Technology was good.
Cons – Advancement opportunities are questionable. Pay is below market for Software developers. Culture is very definitely Corporate.
Advice to Senior Management – Change the dress code to allow more casual dress. Raise the pay for technical people like software developers... if you want to be competitive in the market place.

I have been working at UPS full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Stability, if not to the point of boredom, stagnation.
Cons – Too top heavy and very little developement.
Advice to Senior Management – Trust your people, develop them and try to act like you care. Most UPSers are partners/owners in the company, but are treated like dirt.

I have been working at UPS part-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Opportunities for advancement
Tuition assistance
Fair amount of autonomy
Weekends off
Cons – Used to see a lot more recognition, benefits, bonuses, free holiday turkey, volunteering, etc. So, now, UPS has paled in comparison to its former self.
Not all management deserves or is qualified to be in certain positions.
Unionized.

I have been working at UPS full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Challenging work environment depending on the group. The corporate offices in Atlanta are a very conservative work environment that is very slow to adopt new concepts but it is a great environment to work.
Cons – Very slow to react to change and like everywhere has experienced major staff reduction that has impacted work life balance of the remaining employees
Advice to Senior Management – Invest more in your employees and their futures!
