I have been working at UPS full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The health benefits and the salary structure are are two huge pros. Additionally the job stability of this large employer is another pro.

    Cons

Lack of accountability amongst management teams. Experience of multiple half truths and broken promises.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees on the front line and doing the work more than the suits in an office across the country. Problems and issues that affect a large metropolitan area probably do not also affect a rural community in the same ways.

I have been working at UPS full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Frequent transfers, many opportunities for promotion

    Cons

With frequent transfers no one is an expert. You have not support. Work-Life balance is more of a work - work balance especially the last three months of the year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Spend time training your employees

I worked at UPS part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

No previous knowledge necessary. Good pay, especially compared to amount of hours worked. Lots of locations. 3 different shifts. Pretty flexible with being late and family emergencies. Always desperate for workers near holidays and hire just about anyone without a record.

    Cons

Driver positions are highly coveted and very rarely available. Very dirty environment, used to cough up black phlegm. Most hours are inconvenient and little advancement unless you've been there years+. Union dues seem steep when you're making just over minimum wage part time. Benefits take over a year to kick in but environment means you're likely to get sick quite often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Possibly the ability to reward members for performance rather than years worked.

I have been working at UPS part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good job for younger people who want to work their way through school or learn management skills. Opportunities for growth have improved in the past couple years.

    Cons

It seems like every year the benefits get a little worse, but they're still good for a part-time job.

I have been working at UPS part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

As an Air Walker, the counter you work for is family oriented. You get paid every week. Work is easy once you learn the DIAD.

    Cons

Shortened hours starting off because you don't have any "seniority". Part-Time is 15 hours/Week.

I have been working at UPS full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Stable company, good benefits and a highly competitive base pay.

    Cons

Management says they are moving away from service and documentation towards a more traditional sales role but it is going to take a long time to get the old guard out and new blood into leadership positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep evolving. There are still times when the old ways peek their heads through and you lose sight of what your Business Development team is trying to accomplish.
