Pros
Great promotion within. Hard work pays off. Good benefits. Tuition Reimbursement. Awesome pay for supervisors.
Cons
The hours. Physical nature of work.
Advice to Senior Management
Doing a good job
Pros
Bar-none, the benefits package offered by UPS is unbeatable. The diversity of teams you work with will keep each day fresh; and the tasks performed are repetitive.
Cons
Minimal opportunities to grow beyond what your current position would allow. Often times, any career path taken with UPS involves years, if not decades, of commitment to achieve a six-figure income.
Advice to Senior Management
Upper management should consider reinstating the gain-sharing bonuses lower management used to receive prior to the great recession. Analyze the effectiveness of some of the paperwork and eliminate that which has not improved the overall process.
Pros
*Good work good pay
*Ability to gain some experience in basic logistics
Cons
*Depends on each center. Mine was greedy and would provide seasonal employees (Driver helpers) work only for a couple of hours a day (i.e. 2 hours) to save money
*Some drivers have attitude especially during Christmas season (its understandable since it is a lot of work!)
*Not enough recognition
Pros
Good pay and stable if you are a slacker thanks to the union
Cons
Long hours
Unappreciated
No work life balance
Not treated with respect
Advice to Senior Management
Embrace your employees.
Pros
Part time job that is not waitressing or retail, no education or experience required, just physical strength
Cons
Very dirty workplace - I got eye infections all the time and even ear infections even though I tried to be careful about taking care of myself. They just never clean out that building at all and all the package dust is unbearable.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop encouraging your young assistant managers that they are Roman slavedrivers
Pros
guaranteed hours, good rate of pay
Cons
adverse weather at times of year
Advice to Senior Management
keep doing it the way you are
Pros
Great people in the company!
Cons
Hours are CRAZY long and tiring. It's a 24 hour company and management is expected to make up the difference when hourly people are sent home.
Advice to Senior Management
Take better care of your 1st line supervisors!
Pros
UPS is a great place to work if you dont have a family or are single. The pay is awesome.
Cons
Your pretty much married to your job Monday thru Friday.
Pros
UPS offers a very good benefits package, however the management was a little lack-luster. A good, easy way to pick up a consistent pay check.
Cons
The management only cares about moving packages throughout the building. The care of their employees falls behind the advancement of packages.
Advice to Senior Management
The management should look to increase the way employees are treated. Although they offer a great benefits package, they aren't very understanding for personal issues that may arise in their employees' lives.
Pros
UPS offers great benefits through Illinois blue cross blue shield. Part time employees have a regular work schedule that makes it very easy for them to accommodate a second job
Cons
Employees are worked hard and have most of their duties micromanaged. Management makes changes on the fly with no research and seemingly little knowledge of the issues they cause.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your part time employees, there are very good they get frustrated. Frustrated workers cost you more in the long run.
