Pros
Enjoyed working by myself. The freedom to do my route they way I wanted. Had a good loader. Made my day easier
Cons
Pushed very hard by management. Good finish times were not good enough. Truck to be organized better. Keep drivers in familiar routes. Need to have better more accurate communication between management.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay loaders more so they do their job better. More organized truck means quicker deliveries and less stress for drivers and overall better work experience.
Pros
Phenomenal benefits package and retirement
Cons
terrible management and no work life balance
Advice to Senior Management
get some training on how to motivate people
Pros
Every employee i interacted with had a positive outlook
Cons
on call was tough to get use to, but i did
Advice to Senior Management
none needed, they have every aspect under control. i was very impressed
Pros
UPS is an easy place to work. the pay is pretty good. It is not hard to get a job at UPS.
Cons
There is not a whole lot of upward movement at UPS. You just do the same thing everyday. It is easy to get fired.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't fire people so much. give more raises. Make it easier to move up in UPS. Make starting pay higher.
Pros
-100% free health insurance. Including dental, vision, prescriptions. Amazing plan too: low copays, very low prescription costs.
-With no education, this is one of the highest-paying jobs you could get. (You get a raise every 6 months too!)
-If you're in school, UPS pays you $1000 per semester to help cover tuition costs. Its like getting a $1000 bonus check for completing each semester!
-You'll work hard almost every night. This should cause you to go home each night with a great sense of pride and accomplishment at a job well done. It's a very good feeling that you just can't get from working at, say, a grocery store.
-If you like Tetris, then loading trucks is for you!
Cons
-It gets very hot in the summer. And you're working in a warehouse. Industrial fans and water jugs become your best friends.
-Likewise, it gets very cold in the winter. And very, VERY busy around the holidays (Christmas).
-It is hard, heavy, fast-paced work and there's no "easy way out". This job is not for slackers.
Advice to Senior Management
Bring back rewards for no misloads! And Christmas turkeys! And more belt-wide pizza rewards!
Pros
It quite simply is the greatest company on earth and I have enjoyed every second of career here! The most phenominal thing about working here is they groom you to grow into an important part of the company.
Cons
The only real downside of working at ups is that you make a lot of friends that grow into your "brown" family and it is very sad when they move on or leave the company.
Advice to Senior Management
I am in Human Resources which is technically a part of what we call management at UPS so if I had advice for my fellow management employees it would have to be this, give 200% everyday and eventually those above us will recognize you and offer more challenging roles or different roles in the company..
Pros
benefits are good and can't be matched by anyone else
good work out while you are getting pais
good people
Cons
union
full time management operates with double standards
shifts are either 2nd or 3rd
union seniority prohibits career advancement and training
Advice to Senior Management
Start caring for the customer again
stop trying to squeeze an imposable amount work in the least amount of time
Pros
Great benefits, Good that they help pay for education.
Cons
Pay is low if you are new, hours are bad if new, a lot of physical labor to get done.
Pros
Growth in career is exceptional, can go into any field within this company, uniforms are to plain and can be a better fit
Cons
LONG HOURS, but that is better than not working at all. Some supervisiors (10%) have a chip on their shoulder.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the training at the current level or update it so new employees can adjust to their new job description.
Pros
hours are at night so u have the rest of the day but not very consistent. if u make it past the first 2 months they bump ur pay by a dollar
Cons
they treat you like a child, they are very disorganized, management does not know their jobs, people are not held accountable for their work(lack of work)
Advice to Senior Management
learn leadership traits, learn how to speak to people with out degrading them, show more appreciation for those employees that actually do their job.
