    Cons

Long hard hours...especially Christmas season. Physically this is a very challenging job. If you dont like hard work for good pay...this is not for you.

I have been working at UPS full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Compensation was fair. Benefits were acceptable. As far as co-workers, there were a few good eggs.

    Cons

Politics, politics, politics. Everyone has their own vision, and will cut your throat in a heartbeat to get where they want to go. This is the first place I've ever worked where you had to receive explicit permission from your current manager to change positions, lateral or otherwise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Refine your hiring process. Something is seriously wrong if someone feels free to go into the bathroom, and cover the walls in their own feces, or assault another co-worker.

I worked at UPS part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Stability, consistant and paid time off.

    Cons

Pay is no longer top. They do not know how to manage people. And their dress code is so 1900ish.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review what the market is doing today and maybe run with a few changes.

I worked at UPS full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They offer good benefits, and they do promote from within. They value effort and expect good performance. If you can get past their rule heavy environment, it's a decent place to work.

    Cons

Micro-management for hourly employees, stringent rules and low tolerance for late arrival and absenteeism. It is difficult to transition out of the call center into the direct service centers.

I worked at UPS full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits, stable company, tuition reimbursement, all the perks of a union job.

    Cons

UPS doesn't have a lot of automation. Manual labor all the way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in modern package handling equipment. It's worth it

I worked at UPS as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Great culture and long term security.

    Cons

How you do depends much on who you get on the floor originally as a mentor. Supervisors should not be doing things for the customer that they have told you previously to tell the customer were impossible. This builds a body of savvy customers who simply start with "let me talk to a supervisor".

I have been working at UPS full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Its a Job,
    Pay is liveable.
    40 hours a week

    Cons

Its a technical call center run by non technical management for the most part.
Supervisors and Coaches are also non technical for the most part.
    Unneccesary drama almost daily.
Skill or the ability to do the job is not required, just someone that comes to work everyday and will talk to management will get you promoted.
Technical Agents get no training whatsoever, sit down maybe listen to someone for 2 hours then start taking calls.
Management wants you to stay away from ACW Aux (After Call Work) and does not give Cart Blanche access to use the Supervisor directed Aux to help these new agents out. So we have to use ACW to help these agents on their calls to help internal UPS people mostly at package centers out and doing that in the end has an effect on your yearly raise, This is just one example, its an avalanche effect with no thanks for jobs well done only negative consequences.
There are many technical employee's with no technical skill's or employee's that follow the guidelines so closely they SEVERLY limit the ability to help our internal customers, these agents don't have the ability to think outside the box.
A simple unplanned listening to some of these agents would show UPS this problem, The problem with that is the Management, Supervisor's and coaches are very non technical, neither is our QA monitoring group.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I love UPS.
But by your lack of corrective action, your lack of technical knowledge or your inability to facilitate your job at the level you are at You are being the largest soft cost to the business.

    Pros

Stock options and MIP (Manager Incentive Program)

    Cons

Militaristic, the company does not care about your career goals and aspirations, they put you where they need you, and that can be in any department or geographical locations.
