I worked at UPS
Pros – UPS is more than 100 years old. They are an industry leader. They have solid internal processes. You will learn alot about managing in a high performance environment.
Cons – UPS has to be your first, second and third priority in life. Any time you have left over...if any...is for everything else in your life. If you like to feel appreciated for your efforts, don't come here. Appreciation is recieved on the 26th of the month when your salary is deposited. For some that is enought. Also, remember this is a company whose rank & file are represented by the Teamsters Union. Be ready to play that game.
Advice to Senior Management – Do a better job of informing your managers and supervisors about the reasons for the decisions you make. They will understand and be better prepared to carry out your plan. I know UPS has been working hard to change its culture of management through fear and intimidation...but that change is not coming fast enough.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
