    Pros

UPS provides excellent management opportunities. Hours are long and management within the operations work very hard. The salary, benefits and stock make the hard work well worth it. Also, UPS is one of the only companies left that offers retirement benefits. Very smart company in hard economic times. Diversity is very big in UPS and females and males are working along side each other in the operations.

    Cons

Work hours especially during holiday season.

    Pros

Great Pay and even better benefits, as in free very high quality health insurance. The healthcare package is probably nearly unbeatable.

    Cons

Management runs the place like a Nazi concentration camp. Poorest environment I have ever worked in with regard to employee health and safety.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out of the ivory tower and learn about what it is your employees actually do. Stop treating people like tools.

    Draconian Management, Unreasonable Expectations

    Pros

Excellent pay and even better benefits. The health insurance is unbeatable.

    Cons

They are all for safety, that is, as long as it doesn't interfere with package movement. It was routine to be threatened or even written up or worse for violating a safey rule, unless of course the sort was shut down. In that case management turned a blind eye and even pushed you to go faster, faster, faster expecting you to do whatever it takes. If you followed all the rules you would get written up for dragging out the job, if you "did whatever it takes" you would get fired or written up if you were injured or damaged something. Management, especially mid level and upper level management could care less about the people. They consider the workforce disposable. If management was issued UPS approved whips, they would use them as often as possible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People are one of your greatest assets. Start treating people with respect and dignity. There is no good reason to push people to the breaking point on a regular basis. Live by your own rules. Put away the whips.

    Pros

fast pace environment, learn supply chain process fast.

    Cons

Be ready to do some physical work and work for a year before thinking of having any insurance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please increase the base pay to at least $12 hr to motivate and retain your workers. $8 hr is not enough.

Former Employee - Part-Time Supervisor in Laurel, MD

    Pros

Good benefits for part time employment. Health insurance, stock options, college reimbursement, vacation, discretionary days. You work fairly short days.

    Cons

Cutting back on benefits. Less than ideal work environment. Company doesn't stay true to their "promote from within" motto, especially if you are in operations.
