I have been working at UPS part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great job, great benefits, perfect for people that go to school and need a PT job.

    Cons

Not so great for paying bills but gets better through years of devotion. It is seniority based so its not based on who works harder.

I have been working at UPS part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

benifits are to die for, their is prospect for advancement, but the stepping stone, the job that gets your foot in the door is mistreated and taken for granted. i would become a driver for this company, or travel as management. but i wouldn't become so abusive toward my employees.

    Cons

stress, oppression, constant harassment and verbal attack.

    Cons

none, keeping doing what you're doing.

I have been working at UPS part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Variety of work schedules available, excellent benefits for a part-time position, good if you want to move up from within.

    Cons

The work will put a strain on your body, just make sure that you pace yourself. Human Resources could also do a better job of communicating with employees when they put in requests for transfers, for example I was not granted an educational transfer even after completing all the required steps. I had to be the one advocating for myself and I didn't really get much help from HR when I needed them most.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring back the In-n-Out trucks and reward the package handlers with simple things like pizza or some food every now and then.

I have been working at UPS full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Public perception that I work for a good company.

    Cons

Every person for themselves style of management. Work/Life balance is horrible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The secretive nature of the promotion process is very discouraging. It is clearly a matter of who you know that gets you promoted, not your qualifications.

I worked at UPS part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

part time shift with good benefits

    Cons

Slave labor, non stop work. In hindsight I wish I never worked here. If I could travel back in time I would tell myself to never work here. My body still suffers from the work of unloading trailers. Low pay and the union takes a cut of it too. Unionized and still less pay then Fedex wich is non-union. Stoopid union fools.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop yelling at employees

I have been working at UPS part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The people are wonderful and there alot of training involved to help employees stay safe. Also depending on your supervisor, you will get treated to a meal (bbq or pizza etc) if certain marks are achieved like a month without injuries and safe driving.

    Cons

Some of the managers there do not identify with the employees which is very disappointing and it seems that once you reach a certain age (50+) they force your hand into retirement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more thoughtful to all employees, union workers, drivers, part time supervisors, etc.

I worked at UPS part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The benefits for an employee are very competitive however for management its average, you are exposed to a lot of industry insider information and responsibility. pay is a mix of salary and hourly so quite beneficial

    Cons

the stress can be overwhelming, the amount that is asked of you should commend twice the income they give the average supervisor. high stress environment, dealing with the union can be a chore, it allows lazy employees to be around for a very long time

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get rid of the union, not viable but at least be more competitive in pay and benefits to your supervisors

I have been working at UPS full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great health, dental, and vision benefits. Decent pay raises.

    Cons

Getting promoted is not exclusively on your hard work, based more on who you know regardless of the work you put in. Over work employees; ex. management wants 8 hours work done in 5.5 hours.
