I have been working at UPS full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Very stable, very almost tolerant business culture. New comers will be given ample time to get up to speed on the incredible number of proprietary systems. Peers in general are very company loyal. In my portfolio the median length of service to ups is 15-20 years.

    Cons

UPS is an old enterprise, it comes with a lot of cultural baggage. The IT organization also puts up with in some areas, tremendous amounts of micromanagement, large leadership gaps in mid management and an employee age mix that can occasionally be toxic. Career planning in UPS is also chaotic at best as its people software is best suited for packages, but is forced rather unsuccessfully on the IT organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Middle management needs to be trusted and empowered more. To achieve this trust some weeding must be done. The ranks are salted with long tenured players who have drifted well beyond their technological understanding. If the hiring manager does not understand any concept of OOP because they grew up 15 years ago in a mainframe world they will make unsteady hiring choices, miss development opportunities, and be VERY risk averse in a climate that is not tolerant of project failure but overly tolerant of individual failure.

I have been working at UPS part-time

    Pros

Good starting pay. Monday-friday not bad.
Hours are okay... and some people say it has good benefits. ...... other thn that is not a good job.

    Cons

Very fast pace. Even if it's not your fault ... it still your fault when something goes wrong. Don't do it not worth the stress. You better off as an hourly thn a part time supervisor. You have to put in ur 10 min break, but u dnt get to take it. Management frown upon break time for a supervisor.

I worked at UPS full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The salary, necessary to put food on the table.

    Cons

If you are a latino, non-white, a real one born and raised south of the border, you are out of luck. I was ignored in all Departments I worked, wherever I ended I had to train myself, I was not even provided of a basic explanation of what my job was about and received no orientation at all from manager and co-workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you plan to do that to people of my kind, why bother to hire us?!
