    Pros

    School reimbursement and great benefits.

    Cons

Disappointed at management and the way they treat people who invested over six years of their life to that company. Management will throw you under the bus as fast as they can in order to make a problem go away. Instead of trying to solve a problem they will just get rid of you so that they don't get in trouble for the workplace violence that has continued at their building for months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop lying about how people haven't tried to correct workplace violence. Instead of getting rid of someone who didn't do anything wrong, get rid of the employee for lying and getting that person fired for no reason.

    Pros

It sounds as if you can move up in the organization quickly after your 30 day testing period. Good people who are working very hard to see that you get your packages.

    Cons

Everyone has to start as a loader or unloader. The work is brutal on your body. You think doing reps at the gym is tough, this is 4lb-100lb packages loaded every 8 seconds for 4-5 hours with a 10 minute break for $10 an hour. The equipment that you use is poorly designed and worn out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want speed from your people, get equipment that does not require so many steps to register packages, or change loading sites, or that doesn't disconnect or doesn't make you stop and type in labels (on bad scans) with tiny, dark colored, worn buttons when the trailers are so dark.

    Pros

The employment benefits are good, the colleagues are for the most part good. The all around culture is alright. The early training you receive prepares you pretty well for the job.

    Cons

Although management know what their doing when it comes to the actual technicalities they severely lack people skills and most of the time see you as a cog in a machine, not as a human being, they have a very strict hierarchy extremely most of the time it's extremely stressful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take better care of your employees and teach mid-management about people skills and leadership.

    Pros

The company offers above average pay for a part time job that pretty much anyone can get. There are many shifts to work so it can fit nearly anyone's schedule.

    Cons

The work is very physically demanding. It can wear you out and become tiring. Communication with management is lacking. I often don't know where I'm supposed to be it when I need to come in because of a lack of communication.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate with everyone and don't assume employees know anything. I'm constantly learning new things I should have been taught moths ago.

Training was great and everything about the harshness of working in a warehouse was properly explained. The company offers great benefits and there is a worker's union.

Too many young supervisors with no leadership experience.

Former Employee - UPS Loader in Earth City, MO

    Pros

Really good pay and you can still go to college full time. There are a variety of shifts you can take as well to meet your needs and if you want to make a career out of it and become a driver you have that option as well. It's a pretty decent living if you choose that path.

    Cons

It is some really physical work! and depending and on your level of fitness and more importantly the climate you live in it can become extremely demanding. It is true that you get you used to it, but I implore you to do it while you're young because father time always catches up with us.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's a union job, to start with but you do have the option of becoming a part time supervisor, however most of my friends that made the switch ended up regretting it because although the pay is a little better in the end the pressure that comes with it isn't worth it.

    Pros

Speaking from the business (not delivery) side of the house. Good benefits, the company really tries to do everything fairly and give their people a voice in how things are done. There is really a culture amongst employees - more than I've experienced anywhere else. They are proud of their great history that they cling to and often reference. There is a reason the company has been around as long as it has. They know how to weather the storm and come out even better on the other side.

    Cons

Sometimes a little behind the times on dress code, etc but they do try to update them yearly.
