I have been working at UPS full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Job stability, opportunities for lateral and upward mobility, ability to purchase company shares of stock, no work during weekends.

    Cons

High stress, micro-management, difficult/ high sales goals, very conservative and strict corporate culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This company has lasted 107+ years. Upper management must be doing something right. However, corporate culture is still reminiscent of the 1920's and should offer its employees more overall flexibility. Also, total compensation - primarily salary - does not seem equitable considering the fact that Inside Sales is a revenue generating role and on-the-job demands are very high.

I have been working at UPS full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay and Benefits. Outstanding pay. Full time 80k-100k. Benefits are free and 2nd to none. Union protections from management. Trust me you need it. Hardest job anyone will do. Always moving.

    Cons

Stress. Management is awful. Lots of yelling and threats of firing if you don't perform better. Pay is awful for part-timers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to come into 21st century. Really an us vs. them mentality.

I worked at UPS part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Excellent benefits
    the warehouse culture
Excellent pay for the hours you work
    Incredibly flexible (except for holidays)
Excellent way of picking up quick management experience (quick promotion)

    Cons

The warehouse culture (It can get rowdy)
You WILL work holidays. Sure, you'll get christmas off, but you work the day before and after. Only exception is the new year. They basically give you a hangover day.
Quick promotion=high turnover. But it's a pain advancing past part time supervision, where it's very seniority based .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Honestly, I like the way UPS works, but I had to find myself cutting backroom deals often, which ended up impeding us in the long run, but the union structure forced me to go that route. Other than a few quips, it's a very good company if you can cut it.
