Pros
With UPS (Big Brown) behind the management, they RARELY make mistakes in a business that does not forgive mistakes. IF something goes wrong, they tell the customer before the situation comes crashing down on them (the customer). UPS is a VERY straight but at the same time aggressive and assertive in the most competitive service businesses in the world. They run a lean well equipped team of drivers who are well trained with lots of experience, some with over 30 year and most over 15.
Cons
You have to be smart enough to protect your company’s interest, exercise good judgment, BE safe, and stay focused; there are no free rides or long breaks. Management expects explanations for untimely performance and ESPECIALLY service failures. They do not except lame excuses, they do not tolerate unprofessional behavior. They remind you daily that the UPS gold shield has over 100 years of good reputation and GOD help the person who tarnishes that shield... That to me is more of a warning than a "CON". In the old west they had a saying if you were a ranch hand. If you were loyal and good, it was said “You rode for the brand" that is the outfit whose brand was on the cattle. UPS demands you ride for the brand.
