    Pros

Work independently and okay pay and only work mon-fri

    Cons

no communication with managers, management really sucks in this company, they expect you to work and switch shifts with people whenever they want without your consent

    Advice to Management

need to hire qualified management and stop treating employees like they are slaves

I have been working at URS Corporation full-time

    Pros

Company contributions to the 401 K are based on federal law and the Service Contract Act and on actual hours worked per employee. They have been good for the time URS has had the contract

    Cons

The company as a whole seems to be well managed since the merger with AECOM. But that opinion is based only on what I read from other sources. As far as site specific where I am, management has problems. There are clashes of personality, issues of closet racism which are denied but exist nonetheless.

    Advice to Management

Get your act together for the location. Follow policies expressly as they are written. Forsake the rampant despotism.

Very Corporate, bureacratic, too much political correctness. q

    Advice to Management

I worked at URS Corporation (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay was competitive for my position.

    Cons

I was totally misled about the position I was hired for, basically lied to about my terms of employment; nearly every aspect.. Very little support, and mid management couldn't be worse (inept and disorganized)

    Advice to Management

Do not lie to potential employees. Lead by example.

Former Employee - Intern in New Orleans, LA

    Pros

Clearly I was surrounded by some pretty brilliant people. The pay was really good for an intern, also. Internship was part-time, so I had a very good work/life balance.

    Cons

It was horribly boring. The people, while smart, were pretty dry. Everything took a long time to do, i.e. way too bureaucratic about paperwork.

    Pros

Very good chance for upward mobility if you don't mind relocating.

    Cons

Large company means a great deal of competition for open positions.

    Advice to Management

Don't micro-manager. If you hire a manager for a certain position, then let them manage that position. By all means, follow up with spot checks, but don't instruct them on day to day operations. Then all you have is an overpaid laborer, not a manager.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, positive work atmosphere, lots of room for advancement, ability to work from home, minimum 3 weeks vacation time.

    Cons

Benefits are good but expensive to the employee, communication between upper & lower management is poor, it takes a long time to get new ideas & procedures approved, 401K only matched once a year. & matching amount is very low.

    Advice to Management

Improve on internal communications, offer benefits at lower price to employee, increase 401K matching amount.

I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting projects, lots of variety, tons of field work experience and hands-on geology and environmental remediation. We had a decent team for a while.

    Cons

Low salary, project managers stingy with work, lack of a collaborative team environment, frequently played favorites with employees, being on overhead would get you written up even though the work isn't being assigned by the project managers

    Advice to Management

Remember to treat your employees like they are people first, and not just dollars.
