    Pros

Cool Work, great people, all federal holidays, relaxed environment. Good place to get your foot in the door for defense contracting.

    Cons

There is no upward mobility available. You pretty much have to wait until somebody dies or retires before you will ever have the slightest hint of a promotion.

Stay away. Currently transitioning to URS-Federal Services and it does look good for the employees.

I have been working at URS Corporation, an AECOM company

    Pros

Coworkers, decent benefits, pay (before the FS sliding scale was introduced)

    Cons

Moving to FS before AECOM transition (stupid).
HR and Payroll have no clue how to respond to questions (this includes corporate HQ).
New sliding scale pay rate for employees (good for URS profits, screwing employees on their pay; not a smart decision).
Policies that do not apply to employees at certain locations.
    Commute to work location.
Poor and inconsistent management at all levels.
Failing to properly communicate changes to employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

HR and payroll issues should have been worked out before you announced the decision to move EC employees over to FS. Employees are fed up with lack of USEFUL information being dribbled out to us. Seems like rules and policies are being made-up as this transition blunders on. There may be a mass exodus before this all gets settled. AECOM will loose talented employees due to URS's ignorance. Sad, very sad situation.

    Pros

Very good engineers and experts to work with, good work environment and people. Big and interesting projects, delivering quality products to the clients. Standard benefits.

    Cons

Very very slow advancement, training is not great. Must be very close to management for advancement... Old boys club in many ways. Standard benefits.

I have been working at URS Corporation, an AECOM company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Plenty of good people to work with

    Cons

Large bureaucratic organization, slow to move and change. All URS corporate leadership positions were eliminated in the acquisition, so unsure of the new corporate culture. Change in culture could lead to excessive turnover and loss of good people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve communication, focusing on the truth and honest intentions instead of repeating the same corporate message meant to fit all about how the acquisition is a growth opportunity.

Commodity approach to employees. Feel like a cog.

I worked at URS Corporation, an AECOM company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent salary pay, paid vacation and sick time.

    Cons

A strictly business attitude is required at all times. You're not supposed to have friends at workplace that may occasionally drop by for a few minutes a couple times a week. Employees and management have poor communication between each other. Management treats you like a minion. You are expected to work over 50 hours most of the time. If you work the 40 hour minimum you are looked at as not putting in any effort. Basically, you have to sell your soul and life to your job. If you are not stressed out out of your mind, you need more work. Supervisor tried to stress everyone out on purpose saying "it makes people work harder".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe you should encourage relationships. People work better with each other when they like each other. When you hire employees don't tell them to hours are 8am-5pm when you expect 6am-6pm.

I worked at URS Corporation, an AECOM company full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They were always on time with a paycheck. The benefits were fair and they gave you an opportunity to buy stocks in the corp.

    Cons

Some of the leads, or asst. site supervisors were seriously lacking in integrity, morals, and leadership skills. Too many of them were poor representations of the corporation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put people in leadership positions that know how to lead and set a good example as to how to present themselves to the Government. Laziness is not a good and inspiring look to anyone.

I worked at URS Corporation, an AECOM company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good training, reasonable work life balance, and good people to work along side with interesting projects

    Cons

Management are focused on growth of a narrow client base in narrow geographies. New clients are not favored, new product lines are looked at with concern of risk rather than looking at the additional margins, and new geographies in emerging markets are rejected.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be less risk adverse and focus on high margin projects
