Pros
Professional, decent pay, and good work environment
Cons
Typical from a large company, everyone is mostly a number in the grand scheme of things.
Pros
It's a fun environment to work here, it's very challenging to come to work every morning and actually have something better to do every day; they challenge you to excell and they also want you to do your very best when you come to work in the morning, URS is one of the few companies out there that do their damndest to keep their talent.
Cons
Upper managment issues are a little sketchy, sometimes it takes awhile for information to come down regular pipelines, in order to know what is truly going on, you have to be connected.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate issues to your employees more, because we are a lot smarter than you give us credit for. There are a lot of great people working for your company, but we are not all merely calculators.
Pros
Company is very stable and they do not give you a hard time about little things. Laid back atmosphere. They do not micro manage and let you do your job as long as you are doing it. People that I work with are nice and other offices have some really terrific people that help out in our region. There are always willing to spend money to get what we need. They have some great support staff and always have great get togethers like Xmas party , etc. Good benefits, nice holidays off and ample vacation time. All in all is it a good company but it does have it's faults.
Cons
The way the company is structured needs to be re-thought. Company has grown by buying small companies and needs to be restructured. Managers need to get tough when employees start to take advantage of their laid back mentality. There is not much personal accountibility in our office and a lot of things tend to get abused here. Some people just do nothing all day and get away with it and some people work their butt off and are expected to carry the load. A lot of fat could be cut out of the Boca office instead we coddle these people.
Advice to Senior Management
Needs to be tougher with people that abuse privledges. No accountability.
Pros
The work is very interesting because the company is so big and takes on a lot of interesting work. My boss is great and very understanding about personal issues, etc.
Cons
It can feel a little too much like a big corporation at times. Every office is its own cost center and very little work is shared between offices - this means that if there is a downturn in the market in the local area, it is difficult to take on work from other offices.
Management does not seem to push training very far, so it is always up to the individual to do this - difficult at times
Advice to Senior Management
Difficult, beacuse of the size of the company, but it would be good to get more feedback on how the company is going from the senior management and maybe even have them visit more offices to meet employees.
