I worked at URS full-time for more than a year
Pros – Job atmosphere and people were friendly and easy-going.
Able to work with people from other firms and functional areas and the military. This allowed for greater scope of knowledge about the program and overall project philosophies, all of which were valuable and many of which will be applicable to future jobs.
In general, URS made a serious effort to keep employees up to date on the current situation - good and bad - and there was good access to higher level people when needed.
URS was very helpful to employees with various personal issues, such as medical.
Cons – Working conditions were not conducive to thinking and were too public as there were no cubicles. The area was effectively a bullpen.
The job was not too challenging and the actual duty cycle was low. In fairness, this did allow time for learning more about the program and general government policies concerning such programs, but over time, that became less of a factor.
Advice to Senior Management – Try to increase the scope and level of the projects and programs within the business purvue.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
