I worked at US Airways full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good work life/balance. Great benefits. Travel perks. Flight Attendant Employee group was great and supportive union.

    Cons

The company was always fighting with different employee groups which had a negative impact on the overall morale. Trickled down to the customers in different ways/ poor customer service.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create a more supportive company culture that values its employees and customers. Southwest and Alaska Air seem to have achieved this and still run profitable companies.

  2.

Great benefits but the union takes a lot in dues and abandons any real time you need them.

I worked at US Airways full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Flight benefits and the ability to transfer from work areas provides the ability to never get too bored at work.

    Cons

Don't get sick! Every day you use counts as a point and you get disciplinary action up to and including termination. Unless you know the right people, you get hung out to dry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management really is backed into a corner and really can't manage the way they should because of the union.

I have been working at US Airways part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Fantastic flight privileges. Great part time job. Not great to support a family.

    Cons

Pretty low paying. Must work nights weekends and holidays.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Opportunity for advancement was limited because of union. If your willing to move around from city to city the sky is the limit.

I have been working at US Airways full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Free flying domestically, cheap international flying, great dental and health benefits, and a lot of free time.

    Cons

Your base salary is quite low. To make a livable salary (especially for cities like Philadelphia or Washington D.C.) you have to work on your days off. Everything is seniority based. There is nothing you can do to advance your career outside of staying in the same position for 25+ years. If you're looking for a challenging or rewarding career, being a flight attendant is not for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Considering the nature of the business, there isn't much that management could change to make the job better. It's a great job for some, and it's an unrewarding, intellectually numbing career.

I have been working at US Airways full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The Line Pilots FINALLY received a long-avoided pay increase associated with the American and USAirways merger. There was be another significant increase in 2016 because our pay will be tied to UAL and DAL.

    Cons

Although positive change may be coming, management in the past has treated labor on the property rather poorly. To put it bluntly, where a "problem" could have be remidied with a Fly Swatter, management perfered the use of a five-pound sledge hammer. They seem all too ready to make an example out of someone rather than appreciate the longtime service the individual has given the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pilots are a valuable resource, you might try treating us as such.

    Pros

    Good company, fair benefits period

    Cons

middle managers most treat their employees as lackeys
In my observation most came from the floor and only achieved management status only by being major ass kissers. No skills especially no people skills or .That is why I left after a year.
Tired of the B/S. Plus every time you ask a legitimate question you would rarely receive an answer period!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Teach your middle management how to deal with the heartbeat of any company. Respect you're employees and they in turn will respect you. maybe if attitudes change people will be more productive .
