    Pros

Very flat management structure provided a broad range of responsibilities. If you saw an opportunity not being addressed you were encouraged to pursue it. Because of the short chain of command new ideas and recommendations had a short turn around time.

    Cons

The merger with AA is replacing the entrepreneurial USAirways management style with the more structured and bureaucratic AA model

    Advice to Management

Attempt to keep as much of the USAirways entrepreneurial outlook in the new AA>

  2. USAirways is a heartless company to work for.

    Pros

Flight Benefits as with any airline, Health, Dental and Vision Plan, friendly co-workers.

    Cons

A 120 day training probation period, only 3 occurrences allowed. Don't get sick or you're fired, which is inevitable because employees come to work sick (contagious) for fear of losing their jobs. Attrition is high and the company. You aren't represented by the union until after 120 days and low pay compared to other airlines.

    Advice to Management

Change your 120 day probationary training period to recognize extenuating circumstances. Employees work hard to get through training only to get fired due to circumstances beyond their control.

    Pros

Flight benefits and raises every year. Top out after 10 years

    Cons

Sometimes not enough people working. The heat is crazy but you can't do much about that. If you don't like working outdoors don't do it

    Advice to Management

    Better starting pay

    Pros

Some of the best people in the world

    Cons

As at all companies, most middle management sets up fiefdoms and ruin everything with their selfishness and paranoia

    Advice to Management

Eagles don't flock, keep them and cut the chaff

    Pros

Flexible with school schedule and finals.

    Cons

Worked in their separate facility off of Rio Salado. Strict on hours and you work in a sea of depressing cubes with no natural light in the building.

    Pros

the free flight benefits making your own schedule

    Cons

poor management skills everyone wants to be the CEO of us airways. Supervisors doing whatever they want its like management sees this but doesn't say anything because they are senior with 20 years plus. This company or better yet this station loves to show and give favoritism to current agents

    Advice to Management

All your supervisors needs to go to the proper training

    Pros

Flight benefits and good work experience.

    Cons

Everything went south after the merger with AA.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your stations and actually get them the help they need.

    Pros

Great benefits, growth potential, high energy leadership team. The best!

    Cons

Some high level managers aren't the best fit and can prohibit your growth in some areas. 'Old school leadership' styles drives talent away in a few departments.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus, and listen to the employees who voice legitimate concerns. Reevaluate 24 hour check in policy for employee travel that is a real issue and major inconvenience.

    Pros

You're in it for the flight benefits. Free standby, discount positive space tickets, parents get that benifit too. Lots of options to move department.

    Cons

The leadership and skills are not there. Everything is based on seniority. Quality goes out the window when they fell busy.

    Advice to Management

Be proactive, be available and be helpful.
