I have been working at US Army full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The Army places value in teamwork and has gotten better with regard to personal and professional growth. There are really good leaders who actually enjoy taking care of their employees.

    Cons

The real challenges of working in the Army is the time spent away from family. It is known going in that considerable time will be dedicated to work, but with the training and deployments it takes a strong spouse to survive the military.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to improve the quality of life of employees and actually listen to subordinates. They often have great ideas.

    Pros

You get to do something significant while enjoying the opportunity to be part of a brotherhood of warriors. You learn to push yourself to complete things you never thought you would be capable of before. You gain the honor and privilege to stand in the gap and defend all that is good and right about this country.

    Cons

Being separated from family during numerous birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays due to deployments and exercises can be heartbreaking at times. There can be a high degree of bureaucracy at times, but this is to be expected in any large organization.
