    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

    High-pressure environment; results driven.
Fast-pace; everything had a sense of urgency.
The people you work with; they perform at a higher-level of proficiency than any other organization.

    Cons

Some leaders don't lead, they boss!
When you transition out, you expect civilians to perform at a higher level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize that the world is changing, not just on the battlefield. The people that need to change and adapt are the senior leaders. Guess what? You won't be here tomorrow and the new guys will. So instead of focusing on changing rules and regulations, become more effective leaders by mentoring and influencing. If the only thing that young soldiers gain from you is "what not to do", then its time to re-assess yourself.
