I have been working at US Department of Transportation (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The hours were flexible but the decision makers are really dump. If you are lucky enough to know someone so you can become a Fed it is a good place to work. You get decent money and lots of benefits, like 6 weeks of vacation. Also, after a year of employment it is almost impossible to get fired.

    Cons

Very old culture full of nepotism.

    Advice to Management

Get some fresh blood and not just political hires.

    Pros

Relaxed, friendly environment. It's the government, so everyone has solid job security, which I think makes the work environment more enjoyable.

    Cons

The office location isn't located right downtown, but the area around the office is very nice. Tough to park during Nationals game days, but besides that everything is great.
