I have been working at US Installation Group

    Pros

    Low expectations from management.
    Friendly co-workers.

    Cons

    Atrocious turnover rate.
Large portion of staff keep their head down to not get noticed and be part of the turnover rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When a position is filled several times and people are fired or quit, the problem lies with the manager.

I worked at US Installation Group

    Pros

To tell you the truth I can't think of any.

    Cons

You work way to much. On average I worked 70 hrs a week, and did not bring home much money. The management does not care about it's employees. They keep telling everyone that the are finding help, but it never comes. The only time you hear from upper management is when they are going to yell at someone, but that is everyday. They treat there installed like garbage sometimes giving them double their capacity. This company has no ethics and you will regret taking the job here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take better care of your employees. Give a better hourly wage, and don't have so much mandatory overtime.

    Pros

Home Depot focus -- no question as to the priority

    Cons

Too much branch manager turnover. Managers are fired or quit often and not happy with role.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust local branch managers and let them run local business

I worked at US Installation Group as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    NONE!

Work or contract for another organization

    Cons

    - Managers and employees and hired and fired weekly
    - Extremely unorganized
    - Terrible communication between staff, contractors and HD
    - Mistakes are always blamed and passed off to the installers
    - Installers and employees are treated like garbage
    - The company will fire you or terminate your contract if you do not do what they want (although you are a contractor)
    - It does not matter how loyal you are to the company or how much you go out of your way to
complete jobs, they will terminate your contract over their mistakes/errors
    - Company will soon be dissolved
    - The problem starts with upper-management and snowballs down to the individual facilities and contractors
**DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY**

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your staff and installers and treat them with respect and dignity.

    Pros

A handful of employees are nice.

    Cons

Most abusive, negative and disrespectful culture I've ever experienced. Lots of drama and humiliating screaming matches between the owner and his employees. NO training at all. You are a branch manager one day and a data entry person the next. No direction, no organization, no HR department. No direct deposit. Mass of employees flying out the door on payday to cash their checks. You will NOT get paid on time if a holiday is approaching. Super expensive benefits. NO coffee service, Cannot order office supplies. Employees are NOT allowed to approach managers without calling them first. One day someone is in tears, the next they are fired. The company joke is for others to place bets on who is getting fired that day. Do your homework. Google this place, the managers and the owner BEFORE you accept a job. They will promise you anything to take the job and then turn around and fire you the next week because you didn't deliver what they thought they wanted you to deliver. They explain nothing. No training. Very bad. Shocked that The Home Depot uses this shady operation. Google the owner, Bruce DeLuca, and let that be a starting place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get professional counseling to learn how to be managers and run a successful company. What you are doing now is not working. 85% turnover rate is nothing to be proud of. Stop the yelling and screaming and being abusive to your employees.

    Pros

There are no pro's to working with this company. Run and don't look back!

    Cons

The employees run scared, passing the buck so they won't lose their jobs. They take no responsibility for their overworked blunders. They treat the customers like crap, no manners at all, they act like they're doing the customers a favor. They say they call the customers and leave messages and don't. They back charge the installers for their mistakes and pay them the lowest install prices in the industry.

    Pros

.....none! You can recommend, advise and plea but get no where. This company needs to return to Florida. They have no concept of The Bay and cost of living here nor the customer needs. Shame on The Home Depot.

    Cons

USIG itself.. HOME DEPOT NEEDS TO GET A CALIFORNIA CONTRACTOR TO RUN THIS MARKET! USIG is the most disrespectful company to its installers and office personnel. I can't believe The Home Depot allows them to retain the contract. Every day customers are put last and told they are first. Floor after floor is being replaced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Why bother!

    Pros

There are no pro's period. This company is the worst

    Cons

Forget having a life. USIG will become your life, for General Managers even when you are at home you are expected to be available by phone or email at all hours, and for the employees under management level you can expect to work anywhere from 10-14 hours a day. Then you will be so stressed out when you get home and exhausted your non work life will cease to exist. Oh and you get to work 6 days a week! Expect no raises and no appreciation for all the time effort and energy you put in. It's NOT appreciated when you go above and beyond it's just what they expect, they have gotten worse since the economy has gotten bad, and there are not as many jobs out there. They feel you should be grateful that you have a job, and therefore they can treat you however they see fit because were else can you go right? It was the greatest feeling of my life when I gave my 2 weeks notice. No raises, reviews or room for advancement ever. They do not promote from within.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give yearly performance reviews, annual raises, and start promoting from within!

    Pros

Good pay but still underpaid for the work you must produce.

    Cons

This company discriminates against women. They do not have women in the warehouses around the company. They take advantage of the economy and the fact that it is difficult to find a job making this money any where else, however you are working 55 hours or more a week for a decent check.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to your installers.
