Pros
Benefits is a good way to go and leadership is always there, as well as discipline. I liked it overall.
Cons
You cant choose who your boss or choose where you go some times but thats the name of the game.
Advice to Senior Management
Dont take your job half ass and take care of your Marines and they'll take care of you in the future.
Pros
A sense of honor in serving your country. The shared commitment of each of your fellow marines to mission accomplishment. A heightened sense of urgency in your completion of your responsibilities in a timely manner. Everything is a competition which helps you challenge yourself to stay committed to your job and perform in a professional matter.
Cons
It really depends on where you are stationed.
Pros
-Provides a sense of fulfillment in the intangibles
-Will be placed into responsibilities that challenge your comfort-zone.
-Provides a place to learn about management/leadership to gain experience
Cons
-Professional advancement is limited to the needs of the military, merit often is not a factor of follow-on career opportunities
Advice to Senior Management
Coordinate amongst higher agencies (HQMC and operating forces) to better anticipate the personnel requirements of company grade officers. Quality attrition is caused by a lack of opportunity for Marines after their first tour of duty.
Pros
Serve your country. Get to travel the world making a difference in peoples lives all over the world. Work with the best the country has to offer.
Cons
Your away from your family a lot dut to deployments. Work hours are really long and you will work and live in some really horrible places.
Advice to Senior Management
Keept it up!
Pros
Teaches you so many intangible traits, such as discipline and respect, that you cannot get in the civilian world. Further, those traits serve as the perfect springboard into your next career.
Cons
The bureaucracy and occasional bad leadership is maddening
Pros
All the benifits, travel, payed time off
Cons
travel, personal life, policys, hours
Pros
MCX is a great asset to the community. It is an employeer I sought out due to its reputation.
Cons
Very unfriendly work environment with little to no information filtering down from top management. Pay raises have bee put on hold for the next two years.
Pros
You have a chance of getting some fairly decent job training
Cons
It is best to just get in and then get out, it is a good thing for young men and women that are not so much college material.
Advice to Senior Management
N/A
Pros
It's one of those things that once you complete you'll be happy with, it's something that can never be taken away.
Cons
Senior leadership forgets the rigors that they were put through. Middle management is fine but are not given the freedom to lead.
Advice to Senior Management
Trust your non commissioned officers, they have attained that rank for a reason, micromanagement has no place in this line of work.
Pros
Lots of good people as co-workers. Strong sense of pride in what I was able to accomplish during the time that I was in.
Cons
Senior leaders did not practice what they preached, for the most part. Vast majority of junior Marines are unhappy with their lives.
Advice to Senior Management
Start listening to the junior enlisted Marines. Get over your own career and do the right thing for the people you are responsible for.
