I worked at US Marine Corps

    Pros

Some of the best reasons for joining the Marine Corps were the commraderie and esprit-de-corps. It also helps to have such job security, the medical and dental benefits, and retirement plan. I also got to visit places that I may never have gotten to see.

    Cons

Time away from family, you are pretty much owned, some of the other sacrifice that you have to endure. Also, being a female in a male dominated industry was often times difficult. I was continually being tested and would have to prove myself at each new duty station.

I have been working at US Marine Corps

    Pros

Job security with clearly defined billets. Detailed guidance pertaining how to accomplish each task associated with the billet.

    Cons

Annual training, which does not improve or change, yet it must be completed each year, as if we are not smart enough to retain the knowledge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some senior Marines have a terrible habit of pushing their work off onto the junior Marines, and calling it management. While there are certain task which should be received, delegated, and supervised there are others which should be retained at a senior level.

Micro-managing occurs far too often. Also, the concept of one bad apple ruining the bunch applies to how upper management treats their junior enlisted.
