    Pros

You are part of a well respected grouping within the Army community. While you may obtain the responsibilities commensurate with being an officer, you are much more focused on a single career field. This gives you a greater degree of technical experience in your field which translate when seeking civilian employment. The title of Warrant Officer (Chief) comes with a respect far beyond the rank. You have the ability to positively affect military systems both directly and through your sphere of influence.

    Cons

As the lowest ranking officers in the military, your pay will reflect that. Aside from the normal perils of being a soldier there are few downsides to being a Chief.

I have been working at US National Guard part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Going the National Guard changed me for the better and can change anyone that is willing to take the commitment of enlisting.

    Cons

There were times that I missed family for example my year in Iraq was hard, but it was what I raised my right hand for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Army is like any other job when it comes to management, but in this profession the chain of command consist of a whole of people not just a manager.

    Acceptable benefits that are affordable
Competitive Salary up to a certain rank

    Cons

Immature organization that lacks true business sense - contrary to what most think, the Guard manages a budget annually

I have been working at US National Guard as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Tuition Exemption, Tri Care, SGLV, bonuses, GI Bill etc. Only a job you can do in the military. Get to travel everywhere. Iraq was one the greatest experiences I could ever encounter.

    Cons

You lose buddies state side or deployed. While stateside the time you drill is usually admin, boring briefs etc. sometimes I wish I went AD, but it's getting me through college. Deployments are possible, and can be tough on a family.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Less micro mgmt while stateside.
