I have been working at US National Guard part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are a ton of benefits at your disposal and the training provided can be very beneficial in your civilian life.

    Cons

Be prepared for the old adage "hurry-up and wait", the downtime followed by chaos is astounding. Also, promotions are very seldom given out for merit, but rather time served.

    Advice to Management

Learn to effectively manage time and keep soldiers involved. Also, seek competent leaders, who aren't afraid to create change for the good.

I worked at US National Guard (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Basic Training is useful for life experience. The shooting ranges and training on a variety of weapons is fun. Comradery is only strong during basic training.

    Cons

Very biased against women, especially MP companies. If you don't sleep with a superior, you won't get promoted. Comradery is only strong during basic training.

    Advice to Management

Don't abuse your power and don't give others the "right" to abuse soldiers in lower ranks. Don't keep turning a blind eye on sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation against soldiers who speak out. This is a plea to all US military organizations.

    Pros

Great organization that is worth joining and serving in. All the benefits of the military while also being able to develop your civilian career or education.

    Cons

Not really any cons. The only con that may be a con only to some is that you have to understand that this is a serious commitment that is not to just be taken lightly.

    Advice to Management

Not too much as far as advice to management except to say that they are very efficient and good. What else would you expect from the military though.
