I have been working at US National Guard full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Networking ability is plentiful. The skills, and values I have learned being a part of this organization are forever instilled and I carry them with me forever.

    Cons

Deployments and/or training required can keep the individual away from their families. Transitioning back to civilian life has been harder than I thought it would be.

I have been working at US National Guard

    Pros

You can serve your country while going to school or perusing a carreer in the civilian world

    Cons

Not really any, you just have to make the best with what you choose, it's not a job you can just quit

I have been working at US National Guard as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Traveling to and shooting in exciting places all over the country. Working with dedicated individuals. Building your resume and portfolio with a reputable organization, The pay is pretty good.

    Cons

Lots of red tape. Unfortunately, the Military doesn't function in a way that promotes creativity. There is a lot of time spent dealing with oversight to insure proper use of funds. Lots of people who have to check with other people who have to check with other people before you're approved to do anything. No real interest in doing anything new. Sometimes hard to do what needs to be done with obsolete gear or software. Very little attention to efficiency. Leadership is most concerned with their potential for advancement in rank, not making killer video. No opportunity for advancement within the civilian workforce.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find someone who understands production to run your production department. Creatives are different than grunts, and need an environment that is supportive of the creative process, and open to new ideas for maximizing efficiency.

I have been working at US National Guard part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Benefits are great, and family ties work

    Cons

It does require some effort out of you, but the one thing that is stupid is that how it changes over the years, and how bad things roll down hill so that the higher ranked people can point the fingers down instead of up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

  11.

I worked at US National Guard

    Pros

Pros are continuing to serve, opportunity to earn your retirement, education benefits are top notch.

    Cons

Sometimes the professionalism is lacking, and is highly dependent on the culture. Sometimes leaders have too much tenure and it is not good for command climate.
