Pros
Strictly 8 to 4 job, time with family is great
Cons
- Incompetence
- Lack of leadership
- Terrible management and management skills
- NO respect to employees
Advice to Senior Management
This is a cuasi-federal agency with very little life left. The culture of this place has not changed in the past 20-30 years and it will never change. Incompetence runs the Postal Service. Management overhaul might save this place.
Pros
Good money, lots of hours, benefits are the best, can be rewarding at times
Cons
Unrealistic goals given to middle management, running a business solely on the numbers and not looking at reality.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your employees better. It is not always about discipline. Get your best employees the best pay, city routes should be payed like rural routes if you want to save money.
Pros
Money is okay for the work done. Overtime and holiday pay is nice. Benefits are very good. Casual atmosphere for clothing.
Cons
Working shift work. Working on Saturday and Sunday. It can be boring doing the same thing all the time. Supervisors are partial.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to what your workers are telling you and listen to all the people. Your friends are not always right.
Pros
The rate of pay in incredible and steady, with plenty of chances for overtime
Cons
No chance for becoming a permanent employee with benefits.
Advice to Senior Management
I know with this economy there is nothing you can do about creating jobs.
Pros
Flexible work hours and good balance on work and life
Cons
Technology is out dated and not current
Advice to Senior Management
Retain smart and hadrworking people.
Pros
The people who work at the post office really try to make it a fun place to work, and they try to make it feel like a family.
Cons
Because of the hiring freeze there is no real chance of a full time regular position for several years to come.
Advice to Senior Management
Let the employees do their jobs, and don't watch over our shoulders. We know how to do our jobs. Just let us do them. Hovering over us doesn't make the work fun, and the people who have been working there for 20+ years resent it.
Pros
The career was once secure.
Cons
The hours and the days off varied.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership must find new services to offer that will replace dwindling traditional mail delivery.
Pros
Good pay, vacation and benefits
Cons
Micro-management to the nth degree
Pros
good training provided to sales people, great benefits offered, opportunity for advancement if you are willing to relocate
Cons
like all other sales jobs it can be very stressful; also, sometimes unrealistic goals and expectations
Advice to Senior Management
manage by motivation and encouragment
Pros
Very good benefit package, very good wages
Cons
Management style is so stiff
Advice to Senior Management
They need to treat customers and employees with respect and dignity
