    Pros

Working for Department of the Army is great and has its rewards and fantastic benefits. You could end up in good organization with great manager's but like everything else, there are good and bad managers. You get to see the "fruits of your labor" through the Soldier's you are supporting. It is rewarding to work alongside Soldiers at times, you meet so many different people, it is such a diverse environment. DOD is way ahead of other civilian jobs, in the areas of acceptance and respect for others, discrimination, sexism, team building and cohesion.

    Cons

Some challenges are the reluctance to accepting change. Many employees have been in civil service for a long time and do not take good to having a newly assigned person or manager bringing new ideas or recommending different ways of doing things, different perspectives. Depending on the installation, they are very close knit and if you upset the "wrong" person, they may make things bad for you, meaning no promotions or bonus. Awards are hard to come by, again, manager's do not want to waste their time writing or rewarding an employee, especially the older managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Senior Leadership should be more visible to the lower rated employees so that everyone knows that the leadership is concerned. Have Leadership Training to promote taking care of employees and try different approaches to leadership.

  5.

It depends strongly on the specific team or group you are assigned to. Poor supervisors removed; now better.

    Pros

Some job security and feeling of being valued but not by some citizens. Generally, we have the right tools (computers, etc.) and support (IT support) to do our jobs. I get to work with some of the best people you'll find anywhere.

    Cons

You are largely a cog in a machine and need to find your own satisfaction from doing your job well. Rules often aren't common sense. A lot of ultimate power can be in the hands of bad supervisors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

High-performing organization is a management approach touted to maximize productivity and excellence. These are worhtwhile goals and HPO should be promoted but there is too high of an emphasis on performance and productivity above the humanistic benefits of staff development, team-building, and nurturing of mental and physical health.

I have been working at USA Jobs

    Pros

    Best benefits anywhere
Decent ability to move up the ladder
Job stability is as good as it gets
    Great job options and mobility

    Cons

You will most likely be forced to live around Wash, DC...pay is not enough for the area (especially youngers workers who will never be able to afford a house)
Mid to upper management is pretty poor
Lots of coworkers are not motivated
    As political as it gets
    Red tape to the extreme

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Government jobs must move out of the DC area to be attractive to younger workers.

    Pros

In todays world it is hard to get any good thing free of cost. The main idea behind jobsusajobs.com is free job postings for employers and free job search for jobseekers which really makes it stand apart and more useful.

    Cons

The downside of working here is that it is just a start up and is limited in resources but hopefully with the time passes it will gain more weight and will become more attractive to work for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Doing a great job and keep it up.Thanks
