Pros
People who have been through really hard times together have bonded. Workers really feel like part of the family. Everyone is trying to make this company better.
Cons
The technology of messaging has lost favor with some people who only want to look at flashier products. However, there are many circumstances that messaging is the better equipment to new technology. With "negative revenue growth", there has been a long-term reorganizing to shrink expenses.
Pros
Lots of flexibility in an outside sales position.
Cons
Highly micro-managed from high above.
Advice to Senior Management
Encouraging people instead of micro-managing and expecting the successful teams to pick up slack for teams that are never successful will probably keep people around longer.
Pros
good people to work with; a lot of work to keep you busy with; good to balance work\family life, benefits.
Cons
no training budgets so it's hard to learn new systems; RIFs every quarter; bad morale because of it; no merit increases for a couple of years.
Advice to Senior Management
Allocate some dollars to the training budget to get the current staff adequately trained.
Pros
USA Mobility is the leader in the paging industry. We can offer significant cost savings for business customers in paging and cellular communications through Sprint-Nextel. As a sales rep, you have the opportunity to earn unlimited commissions and you have the opportunity to gain alot of experience selling into large accounts in healthcare, enterprise, and government. You have the opportunity to take a consultative approach to working with businesses on mobile strategy, since we sell pagers and the full suite of wireless products through Sprint. USA Mobility is a debt free company.
Cons
The paging industry is trending downward and the company is rightsizing to handle this trend. I am on my 3rd Regional Manager in 3 years. I see little or no growth for career advancement, however you can grow your account base with very hard work. Prospecting for paging customers is extremely challenging, but easy to close when identified.
Advice to Senior Management
Our local sales offices should be turned into cellular retail sites, since Paging Revenue and Gross Adds are trending down to a rightsized customer base. This way we can better support our large accounts with inventory, and increase company revenue by selling more consumer cellular lines.
Pros
the people are nice and willing to help, I made some friends here. Decent pay. decent benefits. good rewards if you are given the opportunity to perform
Cons
the industry is dying, there is no room for growth, more and more layoffs every year, declining subscriber base, relying on other companies products for revenue. When I started there where 15 District Sales managers in my region, when I left there were 2. Only Healthcare needs/wants paging. Every time I speak with employees still there, more people have been let go and areas consolidated to less and less areas, not my dream job
Advice to Senior Management
quit while you are still ahead, paging is going to die a long, slow, painful death
