I have been working at USAble Life full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great Benefits and Territory Sales Managers are great people. This is an excellent opportunity if you know how to build relationships, sell insurance, and stay organized. This job is not for anyone with a negative attitude or that is inflexible. Expense account, car allowance, and laptop provided.

    Cons

Lots of travel! At least 50% overnight. Weak training resources, but getting better.

    Advice to Management

Please continue to invest in strong training for the sales force and opportunities for increased base pay would be great!

    Pros

The best things about working here are the really decent pay compensation, the work/life balance, and the spirit of my co-workers. People always say hi, and they really believe in and perpetuate the company values and culture. The training I received for my job skills was all inclusive and I actually felt really prepared my first week on the job which is unusual based on my past experiences.

    Cons

It's very corporate in it's approach to layout and dress code. All the departments are separated and I think that causes a lot of conflict that could be avoided with lower cubicles and people are the most productive and happy on jeans days and potluck days. Human interaction and comfort really should be considered more carefully. There's also a real disconnect with upper, upper management. I only know the name of the CEO, and none of the higher level execs or VPs because they're never around which is bad for morale and contributes to the island feeling of each department.

    Advice to Management

Management within departments is spot on but the bigger fish need to get more involved. I know you travel, and you're busy, but your employees don't care about that. Say hi. Tell us what you do besides get paid to not answer our emails.

    Pros

    Employee benefits are very good.

    Cons

Does not pay very well. A lot of travel expected with unrealistic performance expectations. Very clicky for a professional environment of adults. Questionable management.

    Pros

Started out as good company to work for in 1994. Few bumps along the way. But good over all.

    Cons

Dismissed after 19 years because of budget cuts. No warning of being dismissed. Taken by immediate boss to a meeting room and was told to turn in my badge and could not go back to my desk to get my purse, coat or to clean out my desk. Only got separation papers. No paperwork to convert any of my current policies. Also was told my position was being eliminated. Check on-line 2 months later and was hiring for my old position. COBRA is a joke. $750 a month for health, dental & vision insurance. That is more than I was paying for rent.

    Advice to Management

When dismissing an employee have not only separation papers but conversion of current policies included.

    Pros

Company pays for employee health insurance

    Cons

Transformation of organization in last 5 years allowed for significant hiring and then focus of company changed and lots of downsizing and layoffs after outsourcing servicing functions of many part of organization.

    Advice to Management

Too many layers of management with high salaries and bonuses when company could be better served to invest in training and efficiencies in lieu of lay-offs and downsizing moves.
