I have been working at USI Affinity full-time

    Pros

    Generous PTO & Holidays

    Cons

This place is WAY behind on MANY levels. It's incredibly cliquey. If you're part of the little clique you are golden. If not-good luck. It's an incredibly boring, negative environment. Hilarious that they have a health and wellness group and those people are the one's that go to McDonald's and bright doughnuts into the office.

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately I can't write a book. The Management here is a JOKE. It's a bunch of people without degrees who are part of the clique and can't stand new people.

    Pros

    - Holiday time off is great.

    Cons

    - You put in the work to get things up to par and then are questioned about your overtime. - No next level to work towards. - No annual review aka no raise no bonuses. - In a downward spiral.

    Advice to Management

Just because a person hasn't been with the company for 30 years or have been alive that long doesn't mean they don't bring something to table.

I have been working at USI Affinity (More than a year)

    Pros

The initial pro was that you are able to potentially learn about a new product offering.

    Cons

The culture of the organization is not forward thinking, but rather reactive. If you are a person who seeks mundain, mind-numbing work with no room for growth or advancement this is the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Value your talented employees and don't treat people as though they are replaceable.

I have been working at USI Affinity full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Salary is on par with competitors Centrally located for some people Benefits package is top notch

    Cons

Salary is on par with competitors but the work load is twice as much Churn and burn- turnover is extremely high Management has no idea how the lay person does their job and they depend on the advice of the old guard who have no technical expertise when making decisions that affect new systems, processes etc which means nothing will ever change.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of anyone who's been there since before the Internet and hire new, computer literate, forward thinking innovators to push the company into the 21st century

I worked at USI Affinity (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Major holidays off. Free coffee.

    Cons

Poor management. Employees are overworked & underpaid. Layoffs consistently happen right before the holidays when management is trimming their budget. No company culture or values. Profits at any costs are encouraged. Constant acquisitions bring alot of confusion with employee onboarding, software, business continuity & computer systems.

I worked at USI Affinity full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits and work/life balance on par for being an insurance broker. There are some great staff who made working at USI Affinity tolerable.

    Cons

Layoffs are a common budget-trimming strategy. Management lacks the continuity to train and keep staff. They do everything they can to save a dollar while wasting thousands. Growth through acquisition of new business is not a sustainable model. Each office location runs very differently from the next. Depending on your location, you will be often overlooked for raises/promotions (which rarely occur) or you'll be treated as if you can do no wrong.

    Advice to Management

Shed the bad business you keep buying and focus on the profitable relationships. You preach organic growth but do you actually know how to cultivate that? Stop with the one-off band-aid solutions and hold everyone to the same standard.

    Pros

Long standing Association relationships and hard working staff.

    Cons

Senior management is not focussed and have attention issues. It seems like they hire like minded attention lacking individuals that say one thing and do another.

    Advice to Management

Get grounded. Complete projects and stay focussed. Quit chasing your tails!

I have been working at USI Affinity full-time

    Pros

Work life balance pretty good for most positions.

    Cons

Declining revenue. Poor and ineffective management and communication. Frequent layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Manage a budget without using layoffs every couple years as major strategy. Take responsibility for budget and growth issues, and realize layoffs cause more work and problems for remaining employees. Work to improve poor morale.
