I have been working at USRA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

USRA is a non-Profit, but operates as a very lean and efficient business. It takes on its customers' missions as its own. A terrific work environment.

    Cons

It's a non-profit, sometimes that can restrict access to certain programs requiring a for-profit.

I worked at USRA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

USRA is a good company to work for. They provide good benefits, a fair salary, comp time, professional training, and you get to work with a very talented group of people.

    Cons

The only con is that USRA is so dependent on work from NASA that if NASA has budget issues than employment is at risk at USRA.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

    Pros

Flexible hours. As long as work got done management did not care when i arrived or left. An 8 hour day was expected.

    Cons

Little feedback on job preformance. No communication about status of contract until it expired.

    Advice to Management

Communicate more with people off site.

I have been working at USRA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Worked on lots of interesting projects that were exciting and creative

    Cons

Not a stable job due to funding being sporadic

    Advice to Management

Keep the excitement might need to pay someone to constantly write proposals to keep funding steady

    Pros

Efficient administration, HR is very responsive and open to comments. Good benefits. Great colleagues. Good salary.

    Cons

Stability is too dependent on aerospace projects, which are seeing a decline over the course of time.

    Advice to Management

    No complaints.

I have been working at USRA full-time

    Pros

The place is very friendly and with great salary and benefits. They are continuing to offer new perks every year. It's a strange non-profit company but seems like a business so any extra profit goes back into it's employees or programs. Very flexible with your schedule and time off!!!

    Cons

It's a company that does well on the merits of a small group of employees winning government projects so that can be a little nerve-wracking.

I have been working at USRA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Everything is dependent on your supervisor's opinion and funding situation, including title, salary, promotion, training, conference... Staffs are very amenable and high-efficient on processing request.

    Cons

The vacation/sick days are significantly less than university compares.

    Pros

Great deal of personal flexibility while working for Uncle Sam.

    Cons

You are hired to do a job. Management is highly compensated for expanding the business and increasing revenue. Your job is to keep the customer happy. There is no opportunity for advancement within USRA. Use this position as an opportunity to feather your nest and move on to the next position.

    Advice to Management

HR development would help in improved customer service.

  10. You are what you make it.

    Pros

If you are favored by management they will make sure you are always happy.

    Cons

If you are not apart of the "in crowd" it is obvious and you will not enjoy the work environment.

    Advice to Management

    Stop favoring a select few.

    I worked at USRA full-time

    Pros

Great coworkers, relatively stable, reasonable benefits, super interesting work!

    Cons

Salary, contractual job, powerlessness of management

    Advice to Management

Be your employees' biggest advocate when it comes to negotiating on the contract. Offer supportive middle management that has the time to fully familiarize themselves with the positions you sponsor.
