Pros – While I was there, UST was the greatest of all corporate cultures I had experienced. They were friendly, helpful, and truly cared for their people. The benefits were bar none, matching $1.50 to every $1 that you put into stock. They had a 90% medical coverage, unlimited personal mileage on a company car, cell phone and high speed DSL reimbursement.
Cons – The only con was the one instituted by a competitor during a corporate buyout. The old" were going to keep everyone", but instead let eveyone go. Otherwise, the only downside was everbody loved their job and noone wanted to advance so others could.
Advice to Senior Management – Please recognize that People Power is a philosophical way of life not just a corporate concept. Buy low, sell high.

Cons – not too many advancement opportunities
Advice to Senior Management – remember the customer, don't forget that the Copenhagen and SKoal customers are the reason that the company is in existence. The customer is always right.

Pros – Direct supervisor would typically allow a Rep latitude on how they executed the Company's annual Marketing Plan as long as they met or exceeded their performance objectives. Another strong plus is UST's compensation and benefits package are well above the industry average.
Cons – As the category leader in Smokeless Tobacco, they did not lead, but rather, they would react to the competition's business/ marketing plans. This way of "doing business" has lead to steady market share declines through the 00's. Another contributing factor was sticking with the old business model from the 1990's and not adapting to the changes taking place in a highly competitive industry.
Advice to Senior Management – New leadership has addressed the price gap issue with price value brands satisfactorily. They must now truly become the category leader and be the Company that sets the pace.
