    I worked at USSTC full-time

    Pros

Good benefits and pay for salary personal. Stable company with a good foundation.

    Cons

Upper management very clickish. If you are not in the well liked group your past performance means nothing.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate all your management personal and see what they can bring to the table. Don't forget what they have done when new hires come on board. Include them in on the day to day activities. Most importantly is to communicate

    Pros

Family oriented and progressive. Lots of room for moving up if you are interested in doing so. Fun place to work.

    Cons

Family-work life balance can be off sometimes. Cafeteria only open during the first shift hours. But there are plenty of microwaves and big refrigerators.

    Advice to Management

No advice I can think of currently. Keep up the good work and continue to be open to employee concerns.

    Pros

Great Company feel and positive work environment! Work life balance was great for the pay and home office was nice to have with no time clock to punch!

    Cons

Company was acquired by Altria and work force severed and new Altria work force took over. Micro managers need not apply.

    Advice to Management

    Drop communication barriers

I have been working at USSTC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good balance of working as a team and as an individual contributor. Although there were different departments, each had a role to play and there was much integration and cross-functionality which made it easier to do job. People were intelligent, talented and down to earth.

    Cons

There was little room for advancement as people tended to stay within their areas of expertise for long-term. It was one of the few last employers where you could have worked until you retired. The unfortunate circumstance was that it was sold off and the location closed affecting 80% of the employees.

    Advice to Management

Lots of talent and capabilities at middle management level. Seek them out to resolve large scale company issues.

I worked at USSTC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Working with great people, building a business in a highly restrictive environment

    Cons

Loss of team atmosphere, and knowledge loss of Stamford office once acquired by Altria.

    Advice to Management

Continue to seek solutions from all levels of management, mostly middle management.

    Pros

USt is great place to work, the management is great, and your coworkers are the best. The company has a great salary strucure.

    Cons

You are working in the Tobacco industry, and people dont look at it as a good job. Everyone judges you becuase of the product you market.

    Advice to Management

I would like to see management drop retail prices, so they can restore, brand superiorty, and customer loyalty for years to come.

    Pros

The severance package I received after my job was eliminated has helped me weather a tough time in the current economy.

    Cons

They got bought out by Altria and the HQ was closed. The good work we had done over the years seems to be all for nothing.

    Advice to Management

Don't undo all the work that went into growing the core brands to what they are. A lot of good people devoted a lot of their lives to that.
