Pros
The company was filled with quality people that made it a fun place to work. Salary and benefits were top of the line.
Cons
I sometimes did not understand the direction that the company was taking when introducing new products. That made it challenging to get them into the marketplace.
Advice to Senior Management
They needed to get more feedback from the field sales force prior to coming out with new products and promotions.
Pros
Work Wasn't difficult
Treated very well by the company
Could work when needed not mandatory you attend every event
Fellow employees were good people
Cons
There is not much room for upward movement at this position considering it is a menial job.
Does not provide much of a challenge
Advice to Senior Management
Give the lower level employees an opportunity for advancement.
Try and give the field coordinators more responsibility to keep them on task
Pros
Great people and culture. Had a great run with this organization
Cons
Morale and appreciation for the company decrease after Murray Kessler arrived.
Very few of us trusted that creep
Advice to Senior Management
Altria CEO Szymanczyk and UST CEO Kessler lied to the workforce when the acquisition started - should have been truthful both both individuals lack integrity
Pros
USt is great place to work, the management is great, and your coworkers are the best. The company has a great salary strucure.
Cons
You are working in the Tobacco industry, and people dont look at it as a good job. Everyone judges you becuase of the product you market.
Advice to Senior Management
I would like to see management drop retail prices, so they can restore, brand superiorty, and customer loyalty for years to come.
Pros
The severance package I received after my job was eliminated has helped me weather a tough time in the current economy.
Cons
They got bought out by Altria and the HQ was closed. The good work we had done over the years seems to be all for nothing.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't undo all the work that went into growing the core brands to what they are. A lot of good people devoted a lot of their lives to that.
Pros
The people at UST were great!
Cons
Limited upward mobility opportunities for promotions
Advice to Senior Management
Should not have sold the company
Pros
Big company, small company feel. Great people.
Cons
Didn't react to market changes soon enough.
Advice to Senior Management
Thanks for everything....while it lasted.
Pros
Very Good Pay and great communication
Cons
Contract so not certain when the postion will end
Advice to Senior Management
Things are going well and the management listens
Pros
While I was there, UST was the greatest of all corporate cultures I had experienced. They were friendly, helpful, and truly cared for their people. The benefits were bar none, matching $1.50 to every $1 that you put into stock. They had a 90% medical coverage, unlimited personal mileage on a company car, cell phone and high speed DSL reimbursement.
Cons
The only con was the one instituted by a competitor during a corporate buyout. The old" were going to keep everyone", but instead let eveyone go. Otherwise, the only downside was everbody loved their job and noone wanted to advance so others could.
Advice to Senior Management
Please recognize that People Power is a philosophical way of life not just a corporate concept. Buy low, sell high.
Pros
your own boss
freedom to get work done at own pace
management didnt hassle you
Cons
out of town stays several times a month
Advice to Senior Management
good company to work for
