    Both good and bad

    Senior Administrative Assistant (Current Employee)
    Dallas, TX

ProsThe pro to this place is great insurance benefits

ConsThe department I work in had become a joke. In the past 3-4 years this department has consistently gone down hill. We have people coming and going faster than anything I have ever seen. I don't necessarily think UT is bad overall, but stay away from OB/Gyn

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a new department manager

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsUTSW provides excellent training for new employees. They have an excellent leadership program for managers. Also provide excellent insurance/retirement benefits.

ConsBeing a government entity there is so much red tape and people to go thru to get anything done in a timely manner.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe transparent and truthful! Don't allow rumors to run rampant all over campus.

    Nice working environment

    Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Current Employee)
    Dallas, TX

ProsWorking there as a postdoctoral researcher. Really love core research facilities UT southwestern provide and whole bunch of seminars you can go to.

ConsReally depends which lab you are working in and which mentor you are following. BE AWARE some PIs. Do your research before you apply!

Advice to Senior ManagementRelatively flexible working hours probably the only best part of working as a postdoc. Again this really depends on which lab you are working in.

Overall a good place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood place to learn about various facets of the industry if you're willing to prove that you are capable of handling it. Great benefits, especially PTO policy and healthcare. An ideal, if not most ideal, place if you're looking to settle down. Also free coffee.

ConsPolitics/bureaucracy. Slow pace when it comes to projects. Fair amount of 'red tape'. The typical stuff one would expect with a large corporation.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhile it's unlikely, consider managing like a start up--bombastic, fast-paced environment; flexible schedules; 'work hard play hard'
