I have been working at Ubisoft as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Their systems, ideas, innovations, and the concepts of creating and inventing games are incredibly amazing. You are also not restricted to get the "tight time" to work as your shift time. You can get the leisure times whilst working as long as you can finish the task within its deadline and properly finished. The coworkers are nice and we all do love gaming and we enjoy creating games!

    Cons

The challenges are vary from each role to another role. My challenge is: to help this company having the most competent online gaming experiences and reliable in gaming industry, especially in its Online Service. You have to work hard to make it happen, though. The challenge is in yourself - whether you want to work hard or be lazy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I'm satisfied with our company's system.

I have been working at Ubisoft

    Pros

They are serious about doing research, there are a lot of talented people and the job and practises are constantly evolving, there is international collaboration.

The work is challenging so there is a lot to learn.

The work culture is very casual, good work-life balance, there are some perks (e.g. Fruits, breakfast once a month, events).

    Cons

There is an occasional lack of structure and guidance around employees. It's not always clear what the management expects, so you need to be self-directed or you will feel lost/confused at times.

There can be unpaid overtime, although in my role there was no pressure to do it as long as your work is done on time, and we have some amount of control over the amount of work we take on

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more open with the straff. Don't be afraid to tell them when you expect rocky times, why that is so and what you plan to do about it.

I have been working at Ubisoft full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Work / Social life balance is good. Company is powerful enough to call the shots without outside pressure. Strong brands. Good benefits package with health insurance, doctor, possible bonuses. Strong, stable, and fun company.

    Cons

Old teams with old ideas still run the show. Lack of pushing the standards with certain aspects of development because the studio execs want it to be a specific way. Too much reliance on making everything like Assassins Creed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Politics, and putting up obstacles for sharing information between teams studios, is drastically slowing down production. Too much politics!
