I worked at Ubisoft Toronto full-time

    Pros

    Great engine tech
Very nice people to work with on a day to day level
Nice to work on truly AAA projects
Reasonably well managed projects with not much overtime.

    Cons

Incredibly cheap company, especially when compared to studios in the States. Absolutely no perks. Not even coffee.

Embarrassing wages and raises. It'd be nice to know where all the money from hit games like Assassins Creed is going.

They take advantage of the fact that they're the only studio in town, capitalizing either on
students right out of school, or senior talent who have family in the city and can't leave Toronto.

Unlike working for a small studio, you are truly a tiny cog in the machine of thousands of workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay competitive salaries. It shows you value your employees.

    Pros

Best reason to work for Ubisoft is that even if you are below avg you'll still be outstanding here.
Another reason is you can get away with murder if you keep your manager happy and its easier if you speak French.

    Cons

Well you'll probably loose iq every min you work there. And nobody really cares about anything but looking after their own asses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Really look at the people who work there specially leads as they are fairly dumb and are just awesome at making a fool of you. You have lost good talent over the years due to this and some bad low level managers.

I have been working at Ubisoft Toronto full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - More stable than most game studios
    - Team is strong and they believe in what they are doing 110%
    - Work with very strong people who love their jobs and goes the extra mile to make a good game
    - Challenging work and never bore
    - You get to work on exciting stuff

    Cons

    - People tend to not pace themselves to avoid overtime
    - There's a bit of over time but very managementable compare to other studios
    - Company is growing way too fast, it's hard to keep track of the new people and get to know them

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Not much except listen to the guys below the leads, they also have something valuable to say from time to time.
