    Pros

Very good money. Lots of technology. Good store management team. Million dollar club people earned trips to Las Vegas and received quality gifts from vendors. District manager liked to invite the closing people out for a cocktail

    Cons

Original owners and management didn't have the mindset to grow bigger than 32 stores. Bankruptcy followed by the Wattles years. Bk again.

    Advice to Management

Too late but think bigger and hire management that has experience growing and maintaining a national company.

    Pros

Company paid team-building, high salary, employee discounts were at-cost, work was consistent and co-workers were all great.

    Cons

Deadlines were always way too close, last minute changes were made all the time

    Advice to Management

Seeing how the company went under and doesn't exist anymore I have no advice to management

    Pros

Coach and partner with great people! Build good relationships with customers in an ever changing competitive environment.

    Cons

Difficult at times to compete with online and local companies who drove on price and not service or support. Company no longer in business.

    Pros

Ultimate V2-the Wattles Years was a stimulating exciting place to work. Particularly when the go for broke expansion began in 2009. New Categories, New Markets, New Strategies - Everything new!

    Cons

I'm not sure it was ever the intent of senior management to build a sustainable profitable model. Many of the decisions, particularly at the end were aimed at attracting investors, not making Ultimate a good place to work or shop.

    Advice to Management

Too Late for that. It appears most of management has retired after Ultimate.

    Pros

Very little structure made it a very casual environment. Lots of exposure to vender companies that might provide employment opportunities.

    Cons

Horrible management.Management at every level did not know what they were doing. Every day was a guessing game for them. Not one of them had enough experience in running a successful business to know how to manage an unsuccessful one.
    Inconsistant pay.
    Straight commission.
Inventory levels at most times were inconsistant. This would mean losing out of thousands of dollars a year in lost sales, because of lack of products.

    Advice to Management

Try to develop an employees career. Helping someone focus on their future will definitely keep people on tract during their current position.

    Pros

Ability to make good money if you are willing to work 50+ hours per week.

    Cons

No base pay. Extremely competitive and unfriendly environment.

    Advice to Management

Management was highly under trained and inexperienced.

    Pros

Friendly managers who will treat you good. Good pay for retail. Many opportunities to get additional money (spiff).

    Cons

Terrible upper management (corporate). This is the reason the company went downhill.

    Advice to Management

    Manage company better next time.

    Pros

Compensation Plan, working with electronics, TONS of training (120+ hours a year), coworkers were a lot of fun to work with. The store I worked at (Flatirons Mall) was a great location, but it seems to vary per store on how great of a place it is to work there.

    Cons

Regional Manager was a joke, never came by the store, no communication from senior management, lack of direction by corporate office and always had stock issues close to Christmas time

    Advice to Management

Get better regional managers in place who can actually manage the GM's... BIG breakdown in management
