Upper management is out of touch. Has cut back on employees and left the work up to the customers.

    I worked at Uni-Select part-time

    Pros

Can't think of any pros unless you're a stockholder. Uni Select shows no appreciation to their customers or employees.

    Cons

Customers dissatisfied with Uni Select and the employees on the front line hear it daily. No leadership and yearly raises are laughable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Someone from upper management should make it their business to speak with their customers and their employees to get some advice as to how to run a company.

Current Employee - Warehouseman in Upper Marlboro, MD

I have been working at Uni-Select full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Solid Teamwork for the most part but we are a new warehouse and we are told the only one of it's the only one of it's kind.

    Cons

This company is too concerned with keeping part time staffers from getting more than 25 hrs and full time from getting more than 40. Nine new stores have been added since we opened for business but we are actually expected to meet the delivery schedule with fewer employees than we started with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop Micro managing and get out of the way, trust your experienced staff to set the example and bring new hires up to speed. It will boost morale and and enhance teamwork.

Current Employee - Counter Person in Buffalo, NY

I have been working at Uni-Select full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Not much good to say only that its a pay check. the spiff's that vendor's offer to the counter person is very nice at least they appreciate what you do for them.

    Cons

Customer service doesn't seem like it exists anymore all corporate management cares about is gross profit and to do more with less. part time help no more than 25 hours a week. Full time only 40 hours and if you work past it they alter your time so it is only 40 hours. God forbid your helping a customer and work 15 minutes overtime and make a nice sale they would rather you not take care of the customer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get out from behind the desk and work out in the field and see what it is really like. Not everything that you see on paper works in the real world. Take care of your employee's better show them you care not treat them like they are all replaceable.

I worked at Uni-Select full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Pay was ok. Co-workers

    Cons

Cutting all part time workers to 25 hours a week. Which cut staff. Not replacing staff in stores that truly needed bodies. No overtime. But still questioned by management why customers aren't happy with service! The good old work harder with less.!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This company will be swallowed up by the competition. Your cutting of staff has hurt morale and your service. Nobody feels safe working there. You will continue to bleed quality help unless you change the way you do business. I've been in this business 20 years. I left after 10 years. I have never seen mismanagement this bad. I don't see the light at the end of tunnel for uniselect. It's a shame you have ruined this place with your practices.

I have been working at Uni-Select

    Pros

IT'S A PAYCHECK AND CLOSED WHEN THERE IS A MAJOR SNOWSTORM

    Cons

Completely ignorant employees; unprofessional and clueless management; can barely make a living with the small pay; too much responsibility for the amount of money I make; dread going to this job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Know your job and be professionals. Pay your employees more money.

Former Employee - Operations Manager in Chicago, IL

I worked at Uni-Select full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Did have many good people working there, a small core that tried to make a difference. Good to work with.

    Cons

No Leadership - changed org chart at least twice a year over 10 year time span. They moved the same people around the chart and continued to get the same results.

American management always worked against their Canadian owners - as a result one of the worse cultures in the Automotive Aftermarket in the US

Most of the talented people were either let go or left on their own.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Buy back the stock of your largest stock holder and clean out the family management in your us wholesale division. Replace with with real leaders like those brought in at Advance Auto
