    Pros

It is really good base income. They provide a nice car and mobile allowence. Some of the managers are very nice!

    Cons

They are liars and don't follow procedures. Customers were dissatisfied and the route drivers con people. Upper management is aweful. The factory workers are treated very poorly.

    Advice to Management

Do not lie to cover your mistakes. Too micro-managed and little direction is given in training. Top management needs work!

    Advice to Management

learn how to lead or get out of the way.the corp. office would not believe the lack of customer focus

    Pros

training is very solid, but not in the actual branch locations. True training is in Boston. My experience at the branch level was a negative. I actually think I lost a few IQ points. Hard to believe but true.

    Cons

Sales management was poor. Very poor.

    Advice to Management

Dont be afraid of the up and comers . Dont't sabotage them for your own sake. Man.-up.

    Pros

District Service Managers get free gas. Pay was decent. Guys atmosphere. Not politically correct. Didn't have to worry about hurting anyone's feelings or corporate sensitivity training.

    Cons

Upper management is HORRENDOUS. Completely disrespectful towards employees. I mean actively insulting and demeaning. Leadership doesn't care to actually solve problems. I'm not sure if they're incapable of it or if they just don't want to. They refused to believe that their methods weren't working and just plowed ahead yelling at everyone underneath them when their master plan didn't work out.

    Advice to Management

First of all, respect your employees and their lives outside of work. This will drastically change the work atmosphere and morale. Your employees are miserable because they think you see them as slave labor. Secondly, be more open to feedback. Your employees have good ideas about how to fix problems, if you would only listen. Immediately dismissing them just adds to the consensus that you don't care and think you're above them.

I have been working at UniFirst full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are OK Plant Personel work hard Quality of Products are OK Service is OK For the most part, RSR are some of the hardest working people

    Cons

Inexperience management who like to use intimidation No knowledge of what is true customer service More worried about getting contracts signed without building relationships with potential clients Bordering ethics when attempting to add new clients Sale Reps are treated like dirty Sales and Regional Sales have very little knowledge of managing sales reps This is a low-down industry where there is little difference between the major players. All of them are train to mislead the end user. UniFirst is no different.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the good old boy management team and hire EXPERIENCE Sales Reps and Managers which reputable companies outside of your industry. This excludes car dealership sales and managers(include so called football coaches too!). And if you really want to know what is happening in the market, met and talk with your sales representatives, instead of making decision strictly off of your numbers. Quit blaming and cutting down your competition, because of what I know, UniFirst is no better.

I have been working at UniFirst full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Offers 401k to full time employees

    Cons

Terrible health insurance, LOW pay, number quota system, hot working condition

    Advice to Management

Offer fair, living wages and decent pay raises to laborers. Please SWITCH to a better health insurance and get rid of Cigna because they are horrible: does everything to deny claim, make mistakes in their favor, bad customer service. Stop the quota system and pressuring workers to meet high numbers or get fired. Give cash bonuses to labor workers. Improve working environment -- unbearable heat during summer. Build morale and go back to offering company catered lunches for special occasions/holidays. Give everyone Christmas bonuses based on percentage of yearly wage -- would be really appreciated by many workers who earn slightly above minimum wage. Provide free on site massage and occupational therapists for laborers. Happy workers increase profits and loyalty so take a look at why there is such high turnover at Unifirst. CEO, executives and upper management should be mandated to work on the floor along with laborers for at least 3 days for the entire 8 hour shift so that you can experience how labor intensive it is and provide better working environment.

I worked at UniFirst full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The service side of Uni1st is Great. RSR's met the needs of their customers and made the best effort to maintain it.

    Cons

The Production side was a complete failure- Unpaid workers; Not paying employees over time. Treating its production employees disrespectfully. Management lackadaisical response to fixing problems in the plant and support to its supervisors.

    Advice to Management

Stick to your words; if you make a commitment, failing to follow through shows any worker the lack of support in the future. Do not lie to employees, specially a production supervisor who has complete trust in you. Do not make career threats to any worker, and expect that person not to take your words literally.
