    Pros

    Was a Great Place to work before Alberto Culver Sold out to Unilever.

    Cons

    Unilever did the typical bought Alberto Culver and fired everyone that helped make Alberto Culver a top notch company.

    No advice to give.

    Pros

    Great coworkers, great brands, perks, training

    Cons

    Life work balance is messed up! They aren't replacing people as they leave and expect current employees to pick up the slack. There used to be five people in my current territory...now there is only one. They are also beginning to micro-manage every aspect of the sales cycle. They keep adding extra work and expect things not to fall through the cracks. Stress levels are extremely high among my peers and morale is low. Unilever wants to double in size by 2015 and I'm sure they will do it, but they are working their current employees to death.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more people! Please reward us for hitting all of our targets as a company for the first time ever!!

    Pros

    *A great place to start your career since you learn best practices
    *Presige within the CPG industry opens up doors if/when you decide to leave the company

    Cons

    *Too structured and rigid
    *Not enough opportunity to move around within different functions in the company
    *Outside of brand/marketing it is hard to move up in the organization

    Pros

    -Location, Chicago is a great city. Smaller office.

    Cons

    The Foodsolutions division is somewhat of an afterthought in the broader conversation at Unilever. Completely sales driven environment: sales staff superfluously pass out subsidies to make a sale, thereby diminishing any brand value of Unilever's products.

    Advice to Management

    Hire people in Operations who actually know what they're doing. Hire people in Sales with some backbone and willingness to stand up for the company, rather than continuously bending over for the customer.

    Company culture not consistent - experience seems to vary greatly among different groups/reporting teams/offices (retail and foodservice divisions)

    they purchased Alberto Culver and I came with the acquisition
    excellent individual people...very hard working
    great salary and benefits

    Cons

    too large of an organization to be fast to market

    Exceptional best brand practices and training

    Cons

    HR is horribly insensitive and antiquated, family mobility's a must so it's hard on two career families and kids.

    Advice to Management

    Fire your HR officers and develop more family friendly career paths.

    Pros

    Unilever is truly a company that cares about their employees. I feel as though I have recieved such an incredible amount of training and unique experiences that will help me shape my career with them in the future. There is no lack of respect or acknowledgement for the completion of good work at Unilever and it seems like an outstanding place to build a career.

    Cons

    Some aspects of the communication between Human Resources and employees as well as Human Resources and Field Management has room for improvement but small changes stand to make big differences on this topic.

    Pros

    Very forward thinking regarding human rights and sustainability
    Very charitable oriented
    Strongly support work life balance
    Excellent benefits package
    Fair salary. Not the best in the business but stability and benefits make up for this.
    Very collaborative environment
    Allow & encourage creative out of the box thinking
    Best products on the market in most categories

    Cons

    Most opportunities for advancement require relocation to Lisle.
    Overcommunicate on some things, undercommunicate on others
    Being part of a multinational compels change for the sake of compliance with no real advantages in some cases.
    Bonus program is never constant and is becoming more difficult to attain. Sometimes we don't know criteria until final month of bonus period.

    Advice to Management

    Consider our time constraints, make bonus more balanced and fair.

    Otherwise, thank you for providing a great place to grow, learn, and work.
