I worked at Unilever full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - Great attention to employees.
    - Many development chances if you are flexible and seek opportunities.
    - Global so opportunities to move around.

    Cons

    - IT has been mostly outsourced so opportunities are less. Seek Architecture or Process types of jobs.
    - Felt leadership was becoming too aggressive.
    - Bigger jobs, bigger responsibilities, bigger nightmares...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Too much "ham effect" at manager and director levels.
    - Lack of clarity and resources to achieve your goals.

I worked at Unilever full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Illusion of job security may be of some comfort.

You'll always find the outsourcing or removal of your role to be a target for higher management bonuses

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No one really buys your phoney rhetoric. We understand you have to pretend.

I have been working at Unilever

    Pros

Relaxed working environment, but very professional at finishing their work. Easily attracts best talent out of University and have a good sense of global recruiting. Leverage of being a multinational offers great opportunities for development. Big push to move East and therefore it would help if you would be interested to at least spend 2-3 years somewhere in the East (China/India). Work/life balance is excellent, and especially in the UK, nice holiday allowance (5 weeks).

    Cons

Way too big -- difficult to make a big impact. Bureaucratic at times and so can get sometimes stuffy for young people as there is not great support for new ideas or moving things quickly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Support for new R&D structure

    Recommends
    No opinion of CEO
