    Learnt a lot about world class marketing. Too many re-organizations severely affected outputs and engagement.

    ProsThe logo U sometimes is said to stand for University. One learns world class marketing, and to some extent business management, here. There's a global Marketing Academy based in London to ensure the latest and brightest thoughts and practices in marketing are shared in the community.

    Great brand portfolio and very bright people making it a highly engaging place to work.

    The company does care about the environment sustainability and has done a great deal to contribute to this cause.

    ConsRecently there have been way too many reorganizations, leadership changes, strategy changes. This has caused a drop in morale, low engagement, and most importantly lack of progress on many important fronts.

    The company is highly matrix in nature with multiple stakeholders on almost anything and everything. A lot of time is spent aligning stakeholders, and/or bring new stakeholders on board.

    Advice to Senior ManagementStreamline processes and organizational layers. Help talents have more time to actually work and less time navigating internal politics.

    ProsI enjoyed the flexibility and casual atmosphere that Unilever offers. You get the opportunity to work in a lot of different areas of the business and with cross-functional business partners, which keeps things interesting.

    ConsThere is a breakdown in communication about promotion timing. Sometimes it feels quite hierarchical with little engagement between upper management and lower level employees. There is little room for growth without a willingness to go abroad.

    ConsHours can be long, people can be harsh, and results need to be met. If you can handle that you will be fine.

    Advice to Senior ManagementWork on removing barriers and automate tracking. People want to feel like they are making a difference, not just filling out spreadsheets all day. If you truly think we are all working so hard (which you tell us all the time) give out an unexpected perk, a bonus, or change the KPI structure to something attainable so we don't have to spend all our time finding ways to "make it up".

    ProsGood people, collaborative spirit, good internal mobility, average salary but good benefits, company position on consumer safety, environment and ethics, internal training programs

    ConsLack of internal alignment resulting in wasted effort, lot of internal selling to do, not very high recognition of R&D, sharp increase in job demands over the last few years without increase in compensation, work level structure with many R&D people in "managers" positions which really should be "directors" role.

    Great support in return for hard work

    ProsGreat social side to the business, good support for development and lots of opportunities. The UFLP is fantastic, a great entry to the world of FMCG and all the challenges that go with it, I'd recommend it highly.

    ConsWork-life balance can be an issue, as the workforce reduces but the volume of work to be done doesn't. Often you need to move site/category/country to enable a step up, sometimes people leave the business for a year or two and come back at the next level up. Progression is slow. Lots of red tape & politics, but often the same in other businesses. Pay relatively low.

    Conssalaries aren't the best after initial entry. Huge organisation with a lot of internal competition and politics.

    ProsGreat learning experience especially for more junior profiles. Great brands to work on. Good to have on your CV. Great mission and overall good company culture.

    ConsWork life balance is getting dramatically worse in recent years due to continuous FTE cuts which result in massive workloads for a good amount of employees in all functions. Managing relationships is far more important than focusing on real business challenges. Absolutely no focus on developing employees to keep internal top talent in, especially in regards to junior profiles up to managers. Low pay vs. peers. Poor HR. Low accountability of certain employees and functions. Certain business processes and systems are hell to work with.

    Advice to Senior ManagementFocus more on the (good) people, results will follow even better. More focus on accountability and results. Increase slightly base pay. Improve some of the most terrible business processes and systems.
