    I worked at Unilever

    Pros

Great work experience, had a chance to learn a lot via hands-on projects and the like.

    Cons

Main office in Englewood cliffs gets far better treatment than the remote offices in terms of amenities, employee diversity, team support, etc.

    Pros

I can think of anything good to say

    Cons

Hours are long. Management doesn't seem to care and are as messy as some of their workers. Management couldn't be bothered with any issues you may have with work environment. I almost pains them to talk to you. If you don't plan your day out you will find yourself missing breaks and missing lunch. Some of your fellow employees are rude and unprofessional. I won't buy their cheaply made products ever againm

I have been working at Unilever full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

There are some really great but over-worked people in the organization.

    Cons

    1) There is no work-life balance here. Working early in the morning, through lunch, into the night, at night, and on weekends on a regular basis is the norm. While some areas fortunately do not reap these benefits many unfortunately do. The only upside is least some of these times are working from home but when you are working at 1 am at home that is the least of your problems.
    2) Meetings on top of meetings. There are meetings to discuss meetings many of which do not add any value at all.
    3) With all the re-organization of late roles have become more "challenging and competitive" basically taking on the responsibility of the reformed organization to see who best can manage the responsibility of 4-5 roles in 1.
    4) Individuals have no say as to where they can go in the organization it is decided by management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Numerous talented employees have been leaving on their own accord and management keeps coming back asking why. When value-added work is being completed and individuals have more than a modicum of life outside of work they would be happy to stay.

I have been working at Unilever full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Compensation and benefits
Many great brands with very good consumer demand
Very smart and hard working people

    Cons

    Work life balance horrendous
No matter when vacation/holiday time is scheduled, expectation is you will work. Especially month end or year end.
Sales executives are very short term focused, too much time spent discussing daily and monthly sales numbers
No training on brand heritage or history and very little sales training
8 downsize reorgs in 10 years
HR is not advocate for employee and you rarely speak to or hear from them
Decision making is slow and tedious, not competitive

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Must be better and more nimble to compete in digital world. Training and investing in employees needs to improve.

I have been working at Unilever full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The company has a good name, good brands, great benefits and paid vacation. Some nice coworkers are here as well.

    Cons

Many employees at the corporate level are extremely busy climbing on the backs of others to get promoted rather than try to do a good job in their current role. Many many people are only in their role for 6 months or so before moving on.

I have been working at Unilever full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Work-life balance, Ability to work from home

    Cons

HR gives inaccurate benefits information upon being hired (specifically regarding tuition reimbursement), Onboarding process is horrible, Little opportunity for development opportunities/courses to take to improve in critical skills, Almost no focus on diversity and inclusion, Business is measured to unrealistic targets, Extermely top-down focused

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't tell people you're extending offers to lies about benefits.
Set realistic expectations and targets for the various funcional groups.

I have been working at Unilever full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company values, work-life balance, flexible work schedules and comprehensive medical benefits. Lots of opportunities for movement within different departments. Onsite gym and vitality trail around the campus.

    Cons

Compensation could be higher, internal employees seem to get less pay for the same rolls versus an outside hire. The yearly increase is very low and not in line with inflation. There is a lot politics and upper management takes too long to make decisions.
