    Pros

No overtime. Good work life balance.

    Cons

Senior management shielding incompetent older employees that are just waiting for retirement.

It's about who you know and not what you can do.

    No more pension plan.

    Pros

Union Bank is a secure place to work. The benefits are good albeit standard for banks these days. The people are generally pleasant and the office is clean.

    Cons

It is a large company that at some times seems slow to make changes. Some systems could use an upgrade. Moral is questionable due to turnover.

    Advice to Management

Pay more, less conference calls, less outside consultants. More catered lunches. Clothing allowance. More health insurance options. Create better partnerships with MUFG.

    Pros

They invest in the employees they are interested in growing.

    Cons

Company has been in constant flux/growth. While this may be a good thing in this current economic environment, it also causes a feeling of instability for employees, as it has caused many internal changes (lay-offs). Not all departments invest in their employees; some of upper management is too busy being focused on their own personal growth or lack of, as well as looking over their shoulder fearful of what the next growth spurt will mean for their position.

    Advice to Management

Focus on investing in your employees and being transparent with them. They are the reason you are a successful business.

    Pros

Many people work here for 20+ years. Employees are very loyal. Compensation equal to other banks. Bank is growing world wide.

    Cons

Many people work here for 20+ years. Sometimes it's hard to get ahead when nobody ever leaves the dept. You have to be open to, and look for opportunities outside your immediate area. Some people, especially in management, have been doing things their own way for years and are resistant to change.

    Advice to Management

The Bank is in flux and people are worried about job security. Be honest and help people find jobs within the Bank, if they are willing to move. The Brand is not there yet. Even on this website a search for MUFG/Union Bank, N.A. auto-corrects to Union Bank, N.A.

    Pros

Environmentally friendly company, committed to giving back to the local communities it serves. Great company culture, many seasoned employees have held various jobs within company. Comprehensive on-boarding procedures allow for easy transition into work environment and culture.

    Cons

Outdated equipment and technology. Many technological and procedural redundancies. Lack of reliable access to job dependent information systems. IT errors caused clients to be unable to transact: via mobile device, online and over the phone. Compensatory issues, many seasoned employees would leave and work for competitors in order to be hired back at a competitive salary.

    Advice to Management

Overhaul IT, IT needs to add value for both internal and external customers. Investing in an operating system that can access all relevant information would create value, increasing reliability and ease of use. Resolution of compensatory issues would reduce costs and protect strategic information.

    Pros

Relaxed environment with very friendly people. The job isn't too difficult and people are very helpful if you do have any questions.

    Cons

Not a very challenging program. There was a definite lack of communication across the various departments especially during the takeover by MUFG.
