Pros
The salaries paid out are quite generous. In fact, one could argue too generous, and that probably impacts Unisys' ability to compete for new business.
Cons
Cost structure out of whack with competition. The company also suffers from poor management - misstep after misstep the last five years.
Advice to Senior Management
There are a few markets in which Unisys is doing well, eg Australia, new Zealand, brazil, and a few others. I'd focus on those markets and divest from other markets (eg, US Federal government market) where Unisys cannot compete.
Pros
Standard holidays and vacation pay.
Company pays a week of salary with the number of years employed as severance.
Cons
We were told to "tote-the company line" and wait patiently for salary increases to come back.
Years pass and then we get "laid-off". We outsource ourselves to our counterparts in Bangalore. Loyal employees (with 10 years + employment) got short-changed waiting for company promises that were never realized. Pay is NOT commensurate (very low) with similar jobs in other companies.
Health insurance choices are very poor. Not enough to choose from.
Advice to Senior Management
Managers need to give feedback on a regular basis. In 10 yrs at Unisys, I MAYBE received two performance evaluations!
Corporate management has no clue what the individual businesses are doing. Seems decisions are made with no consideration of the loss of talent and experience. It's ALWAYS about money and shareholder value. The people are forgotten.
Health Insurance choices are very poor. Get more choices with better coverage.
Pros
Reasonable work-life balance unless one is in the support vertical operating 24/7.
Good opportunities for self development and education with the support of financial reimbursement.
A system which despite its very obvious flaws, manages to endear itself to a patient employee much like a home with a heavy mortgage constantly looming.
Cons
Totally incompetent middle and senior management. Lack of vision. No strategic planning or decision making capabilities. Reactive not Proactive. Minimal transparency whether global affairs, internal job postings, policy changes. No opportunities for growth unless one is in cohorts and praises aforementioned incompetence. Measures to retain employees include cutting all benefits and increasing the notice period as opposed to so many logical methods.
Advice to Senior Management
1. Cut the Flab. You get all types but dont make a conscious effort to retain and promote incompetence. Competence will eventually leave, disgruntled.
2. Hire thinkers AND doers not faux kafkas.
3. Focus more on employees and give them the right pay and growth, for the right reasons, not just for Tom Dick and "LACKEY".
4. Hire the best and RETAIN the best,
5. Innovate, Strategise, Plan better, refer point 2 for catalysts.
6. Have a true open door where a constructive suggestion or criticism can be accepted and maybe worked on rather than the providers career being immediately stagnated for daring to speak up.
Pros
Work-life flexibility, global experience, fast-paced environment, intelligent and highly skilled workforce
Cons
Having to work in the suburbs, no great public transportation
Pros
I have enjoyed to work at unisys.career growth perspective it is ok
Cons
there is no proper salary incremental.some times they will keep on change desigantions
Pros
Work quality is good, one will get many things to learn
Fixed pay salary sometimes you get bonus other than your CTC
The cab facility is free
Cons
Didn't found any as such
NO much get togethers or team outings
No external trainings or knowledge sharing is bit poor
Advice to Senior Management
Do not change the fix pay policy.
Arrange some external trainings or start knowledge sharing sessions.
Allocate fund for team outings.
Pros
Interesting technology and Good training
Cons
Limited growth for this role
Pros
the people i worked with were great
Cons
upper management was in a constant state of confusion, changing plans quarterly
Pros
Pay is pretty good compared to other companies.
Cons
Too much company politics for growth
Advice to Senior Management
Stop the bureaucracy. Get rid of all the "partners". Cut the fat. Have a true strategic vision for the future.
Pros
Good work-life balance and a very relaxed work atmosphere. Recognition whenever good work is done.
Cons
Since Unisys India is a pure cost center, work content and pay are not very good. Management lacks the vision to drive Unisys to levels achieved by similar IT companies. Also HR policies are not good. Recently there was a decision taken to increase the notice period of existing employees from 1 month to 3 months. Similarly, decisions on changes in benefit plans are taken at any time, affecting existing employees. What is offered at the time of recruitment is often changed later by modifying HR policies.
Advice to Senior Management
Do not adopt a slavish mentality towards the parent US company. Make sure that HR policies are not unfair to employees.
