Pros
Good work-life balance and a very relaxed work atmosphere. Recognition whenever good work is done.
Cons
Since Unisys India is a pure cost center, work content and pay are not very good. Management lacks the vision to drive Unisys to levels achieved by similar IT companies. Also HR policies are not good. Recently there was a decision taken to increase the notice period of existing employees from 1 month to 3 months. Similarly, decisions on changes in benefit plans are taken at any time, affecting existing employees. What is offered at the time of recruitment is often changed later by modifying HR policies.
Advice to Senior Management
Do not adopt a slavish mentality towards the parent US company. Make sure that HR policies are not unfair to employees.
Pros
Good people to work with, appreciation of work life balance
Cons
Lack of progress over the years at local and global level
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in people and hire the best people available to drive growth
Pros
International Company
Some good products and solutions.
Cons
Lack of dignity and respect.
Poor career options.
Not allowed to challenge the status quo.
No work/life balance.
Management lacks people skills.
Advice to Senior Management
It is the people that make up a company. Treat them with respect, not just as a employment number.
Pros
Good place to work and very structured process
Good HR policies, Management is good, salary is good for entry level positions.
Cons
middle and senior level managers enjoy higher salary benefits, more importance to cut cost by HQ and not much progress in improving business
Advice to Senior Management
concentrate more on improving business, stop cutting cost further, revise salaries of experianced people who are still below managerial levels
Pros
High caliber of engineers on staff at Atlanta CDC office
Cons
Occasional poor communication between corporate and other departments
Pros
The people who work there are excellent.
Cons
Having to work with Unisys Corporate
Pros
When I first started at Unisys at the beginning on the new millenium it was a great place to work. Lots of training and opportunit to advance your skill sets. Pay was good and there were opportunities for OT and shift differential pay. The benefits were very good. Management was genuinely interested in its employees and the quality of the service provided to Unisys customers. Then in 2006 everything changed.!
Cons
Unbeknown to most employees, Unisys started a subsidiary called U.T.S. At the end of 2007, most non-management and non-collective bargaining employees were given the option of being hired by U.T.S. or being rifted. The result was an immediate reduction in pay, terrible benefits and a concerted push to place all accounts offshore. As a result of this business plan, almost all non-governmental accounts were removed form the U.S. call centers and placed offshore. This resulted on the closing of at least one call center, Austin TX.
Advice to Senior Management
Do unto yourselves as you have done unto others!
Pros
They continually are on top of market trends and provide a good service to its customers.
Cons
There is no opportunity for growth. Although there are career paths for some, most of us have no advancement and a very stalled career.
Advice to Senior Management
Many projects scrub manpower issues so the customers don't know how many SLA's were initially a manpower problem. The engineers are working a deadly amount of hours and pulled into to many directions. With the hours and no advancement, smart and loyal people move on.
Pros
Management is easy going
Workmates are very good
Environment is good
Cons
Pay is below average
limited opportunity for growth
Advice to Senior Management
Create more opportunity for growth
Pros
co-workers and some of the management
Cons
pay rate. Some of management had their favorites.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat people with respect.
