    Pros

Flexible hours, compensation, willing to promote, work at home, good reimbursement for sales folks, low pressure environment, was not micromanaged

    Cons

They have mainframes and services. They keep trying to make other products or solutions but none get any reaction. Horrible marketing.

    Advice to Management

Either figure out what it takes to launch a product/solution or stop trying.

    Pros

There are some nice people working at Unisys, however I noticed the best people are leaving the company.
Work-life balance, most of the time

    Cons

I've worked at this company for many years and I've watched it go from bad to worse. Terrible culture - the company doesn't care about its people and it shows: no promotions or career pathing, very little training, mgmt even removed coffee from the kitchen so employees have to now bring their own coffee to work - embarrassing. People don't like each other, little information flows down from the mgmt team and there are constant cost cutting initiatives and lay-offs. The company has an identity crisis and no real strategy other than to cut costs. It tried to be innovative but it's far behind the curve and is losing talent at a rapid rate. Sad place to be in.

    Advice to Management

Treat your people as assets, not cost and give people opportunities to succeed. Offer training, offer people options to grow and take on more responsibility. Create a culture - not through a committee, but through treating people well and doing the right things to make them feel appreciated.

    Pros

Great commercial portfolio; Strong technical staff working on programs.

    Cons

Top heavy Federal leadership who are more concerned with saving their own job than what is best for the company and the direct billable staff. Biggest downfall is the inability to win new business and sustain current business.

    Advice to Management

Conduct an assessment of the overhead structure & which posiitons are value added. Focus on customer facing services rather than internal facing functions ie: Business operations, resoure management, multiple layers of VPs, portfolio sales

    Pros

They paid a decent salary and occasionally provided interesting work. Otherwise, not much good to say about them. Very unpleasant experience working there.

    Cons

Where do I start? Clueless management, incompetent executives, no strategic vision, perpetual layoffs every year, miserable corporate culture. Tired old company that needs to just go out of business.

    Advice to Management

Do the honorable thing and resign.

    Pros

The people I work with are the best thing about working at Unisys. Quite a few people have left the company and then come back to Unisys. Work schedules are flexible.

    Cons

Business has been declining over the last approximately 6 years, as it has with many government contractors. However, since Unisys federal business represents @ 15% of the company's business. Therefore, it is often difficult to convince the corporate structure that certain procedures and policies must be implemented in order to comply with legal requirements of government contract.
Unisys is a difficult place at which to get a promotion. Often they have their employees perform jobs at least one layer above their titles, but no increase in salary is forthcoming.
The indirect staff has not had raises for 4 years now. In order to try to cut costs, quite a few people have been laid off resulting in an increase to the workload of remaining staff.

    Pros

Great commercial capabilities that could be leveraged into Federal

    Cons

Federal leadership is focused on internal politics via stead of building customer relationships required to build business
No new business has been won is many years
Continued layoffs, but not at the right levels. Need to focus on non client facing roles first
Duplicative overhead functions that do not support client facing programs and add little value- resource management, ops concierge, sales operations.

    Advice to Management

Look at overhead costs first when cutting costs. How are these functions contributing to building the business? Hold all overhead functions accountable.

    Pros

Flexible work environment, Good HR Practices, Initial Compensation offered is good as per industry standard.

    Cons

Old and myopic management who have lost track of what is happening around and where the industry is heading ! Negative politics and resistance towards outsourcing which leads to cost inflation and subsequently looses grounds to the other players in the industry who substantially outsources work to offer a very competitive price to it's clientele. Marketing style is that of the mid-80's. Employees are not trained on new stuff, especially when the industry is going through lot of paradigm shifts. Creativity and new ideas are seldom awarded and adopted !

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes , adapt or perish !!
