I have been working at Unisys full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

-Great co-workers that "pulled and rowed" together to get the job done
    -Personable manager
    -Client Interaction
    -Leadership opportunities

    Cons

    Frequent week-end work on short-notice

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be upfront about week-ends requirements when hiring, since some people don't mind as long as they can plan adequately

I have been working at Unisys

    Pros

Hours have been very flexible, co-workers are enjoyable and kind.

    Cons

Boring work. Unable to progress out of the grind. You are expected to maintain the slow downward spiral and earn a paycheck. Large management structure that is nothing more than a retirement community.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire some people who want to work before you retire.

    I worked at Unisys

    Pros

Good benefits, reasonable pay, great co-workers

    Cons

I worked for Unisys for only 2 months before they let me go. The entire management team for the account were relatively new to Unisys and didn't know anything about the company culture. I received little training or tools to do my job. However I was accountable for everything that happened on the account but wasn't allowed to make decisions or be involved in the decision making process. All of the decisions were made by upper management at Unisys and the Client. I became a scapegoat for a poorly managed account that had been through three others in my position in just 8 months. I was constantly being scolded and reprimanded for the service desk performance but not allowed to make changes to the processes that were put in place by upper management. I've been in IT my entire career and have never been treated by any company or management the way I was at Unisys.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set expectations for new hires, provide training and tools so employees can be successful, allow employees to make decision for their areas of accountability, stop allowing clients to make all your decisions, learn what it means to be an outsourcing company.

I have been working at Unisys full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible, semi challenging, descent pay. laid back culture. established company. world renown and respected. I like the people and the daily work. I see myself being here for a long time

    Cons

I am concern about the overall pay and how much I will end up getting paid near retirement. I wish I could get better 401k. otherwise, the company is great

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

better 401k. get rid of performance and development plans, they are just annoying and nobody takes them serious

I have been working at Unisys full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    -Work from home
    -Flexible work schedule

    Cons

-Very small, if any, pay raises after you start, no matter how "above and beyond" your performance
    -Inexperienced management
    -Little opportunity for advancement
-You pay 100% of the cost of a home office

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop "managing up" and take any Management 101 course to see what you're supposed to be doing.

    Frustrating tools.
Broken processes, everything takes far more steps than it should.
Generally being treated like a waste of flesh.
    Poor pay.

I have been working at Unisys full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Heavily matrixed management. Provides opportunities to grow. Great online educational opportunities.

    Cons

No raises - ever - even when changed position to a classification at a significantly higher pay scale. Even when new hires are brought in a significantly higher rates - with fewer skills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You will experience a mass exodus of experienced workers as the job market continues to open up. Thi sis a strategy I do not understand.

I have been working at Unisys (less than a year)

    Pros

I've only been here a few months, but I can tell you that the comments below are definitely dependent on the location and managers you work for... just like any large company. Check your facts before you join because comments like "no benefits" just aren't true. So far I have been very happy and have found the people to be great!

    Cons

I guess I have not been here long enough to become disgruntled. No complaints.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to compensate people to retain & reward the top performers. Salaries are low depending on project/contract.
