Pros
The airline industry is very interesting.
There are many challenging projects to apply IT solutions for.
Free flights.
Decent people.
Cons
Many years of being unprofitable have taken a toll on management talent and resources.
Consistent profitability is difficult due to price of oil.
Advice to Senior Management
Retention of quality management talent should be a top priority. Bonuses should be larger and pushed further down the levels.
Pros
Good flight benefits, now with CO merger hoping it brings more opportunity for advancement.
Fair co pay for medical/dental/vision insurance.
Cons
Hugh class differences between senior management and everyday working Joe. Would like to see more equitable spread when it comes to profit sharing/bonuses.
Advice to Senior Management
Have high hopes for taking best practices of both companys and turning this into the best airline to work for in the skies.
Pros
Flexibility and days off. Travel policy and free travel. Overall need more respect from management. Enjoy the women that work here at United.
Cons
The Company wants to take and take but wont give back to the front line employees, hope is the new team will listen and give back to the employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Negotiate our Flight Attendant contract on good faith and give us money and respect that we deserve as soon as possible, do not hold out any longer.
Pros
free flights, location, ability to move to move to different departments
Cons
OK on career advancement, little professional development, below average feedback, average middle management capabilities, very little information exchange across divisions
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees more, they have some good suggestions. Also, invest more in career development opportunities. Bring in more people that are change-oriented

Cons
Many people here are unsure of their future after the merger
Pros
If you love travel and want to work in chicago, this is the best company.
Cons
Pay package is not so great, but you can compensate with travel (in first class)
Pros
Travel Benefits
Great Co-workers
Health Insurance
Schedule Flexibility
Cons
Extremely low pay
Management disrespectful
Long days
Treated as a number, not as a person
Advice to Senior Management
I still enjoy aspects of my job at United but am becoming more and more disillusioned by the day. I am a good employee, with many commendations in my file, however this is never acknowledged. I am expected to work longer and harder for less pay. To become the airline of choice, United needs to value their employees, making them feel proud to work for the airline. This attitude will of course translate to better service and happier and repeat customers.
Pros
Great travel opportunities
Great people to work with
Good opportunities to gain skills in multiple areas
Opportunities for advancement if you are willing to make the sacrifices necessary
Cons
Contantly affected by external enviroment
Leadership changes too often and direction is constantly shifting
Overly competitive work enviroment
Work life balance does not exist in some groups
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in those employees that have stuck with the company not just MBAs from fancy schools
Communicate with employees more often
Find a strategy and stick with it
